At today's NSAC disciplinary hearing Rousimar Palhares was suspended for two years and fined $40,000 for his actions in his most recent bout. Palhares was punished for holding a submission too long on Jake Shields at WSOF 22. Palhares was stripped of his title following the bout by WSOF. This is the third time Palhares has been punished for similar offenses and has also been suspended for using performance enhancing drugs.

Caio Magalhaes was also suspended at the hearing, for six months. Magalhaes spat on opponent Josh Samman following their bout. Magalhaes agreed that his actions were absurd but claimed he and Samman "buried the hatchet" at dinner that night--a point Samman refuted on Twitter. Magalhaes told the commission his expenses for the fight were in excess of $17,000 of the $20,000 he made (gross) and the commission did not issue him any further fines but did give him 40 hours of community service (he is expected to teach BJJ to children).
