Bye Steph, He hate me, and Buck [IMG] <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Panthers cleared $4.64 million of cap room Wednesday by releasing three veterans -- running back Stephen Davis, running back Rod Smart and defensive tackle Brentson Buckner.Entering the day, the Panthers were $12.6 million over the $92 million salary and they will try to rework some contracts or await the league word on what is going to be the revised cap number before figuring out the final $8 million of decisions.Davis was expected to be released because of his age and his injuries. His release saved the team $2.8 million. Smart, a good backup running back and solid returner, was a little bit of a surprise. Buckner is one of the team leaders on defense but he's played 13 years and is 34 years old.</div>

I think that is the best move they will make this offseason. Buckner is going to be 32 going into next season I believe, and of course that will affect his playing. Stephen Davis is already going downhill now that DeShaun Foster is taking over. Rod Smart isn't helping the team much on the kick returning and if they wanted to they could find someone else easily to fill that up. These 3 guys take a lot of cap out of their team that could be used to get them to the Super Bowl since we already know they have the offense to do it and their defense needs a little extra. If they can keep Peppers and Jenkins healthy this year, they will go to the Super Bowl.

I think they should trade up for Vernon Davis. Then its an easy Super Bowl for them.
