While the Panthers' decision on how to use their first overall pick in April's draft receives greater attention and speculation at this stage, a more pressing matter internally, right now, is how to use the franchise tag. The Panthers will likely announce the transaction before departing for next week's combine in Indianapolis. Three candidates are being considered: running back DeAngelo Williams, center Ryan Kalil and defensive end Charles Johnson. A source indicated that the Panthers will likely tag one of the linemen.
