I have heard some say that we are right on track, though "a little sloppy", after the Giants game. Someone even said that 'Losing Saturday Night was a 'Good thing'". Let me add that the only people who say losing is a good thing is a LOSER! Here are MY quick hits on the game: Let's start with the Field Generals - the QBs -- Jake Delhomme: Jake didn't play really well all night. He threw some of his passes behind the WRs, but, most importantly, he sailed them HI again! -- Jake's WRs made him look good (when he did look really good) by going up high and pulling down those passes. His throwing passes hi really showed last season, but it continued on Saturday night! --- On the play WR Smith was stripped of the ball - that was more Jake's fault than Smith's. Why? Jake threw it a little behind/to the inside, and HI. Smith went up and got it, but it he was unable to bring it back down and tuck it in in time because the DB was on him quick. --- The Pass to Rod Smart (We'll get to him later) was a little behind, a little hi, and a little too much zip...of course, Smart should have had that one and would be the 1st one to say that! Chris Weinke: He didn't look THAT impressive...but who did Saturday night?! When Weinke comes in, though, does anyone but me notice there isn't the excitement there is when Jake takes the field? It just feels....blah.....like there's magic with Jake, and Weinke is a guy with a hardhat and a black lunchbox with meaty, sweaty hands?! Know what I mean? Stefan LeFors: Baby Jake on his TD drive....ROOKIE 2nd! O'LINE: Did a good job and gave Jake lots of time. 2nd string/3rd sting didn't do LeFors a lot of favors, especially that 1st and last drive of his. (LeFor's 1st drive - shelton stuffed and LeFors sacked.) WRs: Smith - he's back...got one taken from him but not all his fault. Gardner - MIA at times, but still pretty descent. Colbert - looked good. Carter - hold on to the ball - be consistent Hill - good return(s) Stubblefield - looked good Boone - did he play and I missed it? RBs: - Foster - was averaging about 3yds per carry, doing OK but still doesn't look like a 'featured' RB - not a commanding runner/leader. - Rod Smart is NOT a viable option at RB! I'm not impressed. - Casey Cramer is a gamer and a load to bring down. - Goings/Hoover are as ever.... - Shelton - getting better... - Robertson is a tough, hard runner, hard to bring down, and was exciting to watch. Peppers is a PHENOM! Collin Branch: On the 90yrd Giants TD, Collin Branch ran in, made no effort to tackle the guy, and even hopped BACKWARDS as the runner feined a cut towards him before darting away - I couldn't believe it and concentrated on the replay. There it was again! A few plays later he went out with an injury! I don't know if he was playing tentatively, which is when you tend to get hurt, or just that 1 play. -- His injury, though, raises some questions about Davis at LB and who/how will we fill Branch's spot. DBs: Man, it seemed like our DBs were getting burned all night! 1st, 2nd, 3rd string.... Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers....... - Panthers held the ball over 23 minutes to the Giants' 6 minutes in the 1st 1/2...and we were behind. Sloppy & undisciplined: - We made some stupid, undisciplined plays, like going after another player out of bounds, a player going out of bounds and back in on a punt...and wasn't forced out....12 men in the huddle...Drew carter dropping a pass on the 1yrd line....12 men on the field another time... 1st string D great but major fall-off when they are replaced. 1st string D shut down Manning & co 1 series then got walked over the next, though. Was that Trgovac, the guys just tired, or the Giants THAT good the next drive? Circiu - constant motor Seideman - Great series Wesley was popping some people I hear Manning might be out as a result of the pop Peppers put on him before picking up the ball and scampeing for a TD?! Kudos to that Giants rookie RB - 6'4", 257lbs...and a BEAST to bring down! Back to the drawing board this week....some decisions to be made...regroup, fix what was broke....go cats! http://www.pantherspride.com/datacg...&finalrecord=74
Yea the Pantherz didnt look tht good on offense but the D was pretty good except for the 2 long TDs. Im excited tto see how Jacobs does this year.
i was really dissapointed in the panthers, they made a lot of good plays but then the made bone headed mistakes. The panthers 1st team d line looked good. Stefan Lefors looked good for a rookie and the o line looked good. But we made lots of boneheaded plays
