Nobody needs a Mac unless they just have so much money in their pocket that it is burning a hole in it.
The only reason there were no virii for mac's is because hackers want fame, and a vast majority of PC's were windows. As Mac's become more common, more virii will appear.
There are virusus for a mac. They just aren't well publicized because not that many of them are out there in the scheme of things. Why would you want to build a botnet based on an OS where you could not have many bots in your spam network? My guess is that cellphones are actually going to be the next big target, there are so many of them and they are basically small PC's now. There are guys out there who can hack a mac in 30 seconds. I would also point out, you can eliminate a vast majority of virus threat by merely changing your windows OS to 64 bit instead of 32. Most viruses do not work on the 64 bit variety at all.
I have never heard of 64 bit OS being any different (virus wise) than 32 bit. Interesting. I will have to look into that. Anyhow, Macs have viruses too. There just aren't as many disgruntled former Mac employees writing viruses as there are for Windows.
