<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Lakers still have $2.5 million left from their midlevel exception as well as a $1.67 million biannual exception to spend. One of their free-agent targets, guard Jannero Pargo, will decide where to sign early next week, agent Mark Bartelstein said.

Pargo, who played parts of two seasons with the Lakers, is considering Utah, Toronto, Miami and Cleveland in addition to his former team. Yet Kupchak suggested that Smush Parker, signed after the summer league, might be the Lakers' alternative to Pargo.

What do you guys think? If he signs with Toronto will he be a good backup? I'd be happy if Pargo was a raptor again, I liked him since he was drafted by L.A. and I think he is even a capable starter, but in Toronto would he fit with Sam's Philosophy?

He's a decent man-to-man defender, got the handles and can shoot the longball. I still prefer Jay Williams over Pargo though.

Babcock was on Fan 590 yesterday with Swirsky and said he has been in "constant touch with Jay and his agent (who happens to be the same agent for Chris Duhon)." That's a good sign I'd say.

I'd be happy with either of the signings, Pargo or Williams both im my eyes are great players and have different strengths, but I do think Jay Williams would be the better fit for the Toronto Raptors.

    I agree with buckets
i keep getting the feeling that despite the injury
Jay williams will still prove to be the best PG in the league

i dont want pargo. he is just a shooter, and we dont need that right now. i agree he has good defence, but thats only man to man. and wasnt a high school prospect that blended into the no-name oblivion category?? or the lost souls of the NBA?? i wouldnt want him. I'd rather make an offer to Jay Williams he'd be great here, he was a leader in Duke and will be a great addition....if and only if Babcock can pull the trigger and say "100/0" not 50/50.

I'm not a real big fan of Pargo and the way he played for the few games he had with us. He'd come in, chuck up some shots and then get benched for doing that. He's made some noise in Chicago but I'd still rather have Jay over Jannero.

I'd also rather have Jay Williams over Pargo. ONly thing I remember Pargo by is his shot against the Wiz last year in the playoffs...

But with Jay Will he was a proven PG and an up and coming star until his fateful accident. If we give him a chance there's high risk but also high reward.

I wouldn't say he was a proven PG. He put up nice stats for a rookie, but he only played one season.

Pargo is a flashy and certainly entertaining player - saw him at that Nash Charity game, but he needs a lot of work on his jumpshot and so on. He's definitely not a proven PG just yet.

If Pargo needs any improvements, it's not his jumpshot. His jumpshot is solid; it's his decision-making that's been in question.
