I was told by a mod that passive aggressive snark is the commonly accepted form of communication here…

but yet when i try to be better and conform to this ridiculous assertion of accepted behavior, ive lost my privileges to post in the thread where i was given this advise.

Im completely confused. Is this Behavior only accepted by some, but not others?

How is it i can follow this advise from a mod but then lose posting privileges when im just conforming to the advise provided???

I was told Snark is good.
Why am i not able to be good? Be better??? Why was my privilege taken away for simply following the advise of an all knowing intellectually superior person??

If you have repeated problems with different mods you must consider the possibility that the problem is not the mods.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with even one mod.

You saw the snark post yesterday and when i mocked it, you laughed.

The problem is the echo chamber. Its cultist. And when they defend each other in the midst of such bullshit, that doesnt mean they aRent wrong.
It just means there is favoritism and biased behavior.

You are a very nice guy but sometimes you have a problem of focusing more on the people posting vs the topic of the thread you are posting in. I know, this isn't something that only you do but you do take it to an extreme more than others.

Please, I strongly suggest you take a break from the Off Topic section.

The moment you correct Minstrel regarding how i should be better and that snark is not actually the preferred method of communicating has he so eluded, is move on.
The ONLY reason i keep going is because not one person can step up and say

    “whoa…

actually snark ISNT the best form of communication and doesn't typically produce positive results.”

if you or anyone would simply step up and say that's wrong, then i wouldn't feel compelled to do so.
Do you agree snark and passive aggressive posts are a positive style of communicating?

if not then why aren't you posting to minstrel that you disagree and i have a point?

So now your request for me to take a break is to maintain that echo chamber that i disrupted…

    Break…

you are sooo wrong for asking me to take a break without correcting Minstrel on what is the preferred method of communicating and expecting others to get tougher or get lost…

I tell ya what. You wont need to ban me this time to maintain the cultist bullshit around here.
    Ill ban myself… ;)

its called silencing the opposition to maintain a cultist echo chamber.

Its pathetic that im asked to take a break instead of Mintrel being corrected on his suggestion to be snarkier and tougher or don't engage…

of course i go to extremes. Its the only way to get thier attention to the blatant hypocrisy they exhibit. But i admit. That doesn't work either.

They just keep belittling anyone who has a different opinion until the belittled just moves on from this place.

My post didn't have the required intelligence level to deserve anything more than snark..

And Minstrel doesnt think thats insulting…

    lmfao..

    Cultish behavior…

Sometimes, you just have to deal with a Minstrel period. It goes away.

Jesus christ man, you act like this forum is supposed to be some virtuous place. It's an internet message board, and the off topic side at that!

Maybe I missed where he said it is the preferred method of communication? All I found was him saying sarcasm is common. And you took the giant leap(surprise surprise) from it is common to it is the preferred mode of communication. You start seeing red and lose the ability to read what people are saying and just go on another tirade. It's like the 3rd different person in a week.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Apparently this thread has something to do with me? I didn't say sarcasm was preferred, as @RR7 pointed out. But to ignore that sarcasm is common on the forum (even by OrionBailey, leader of the resistance!) is silly. Sarcasm isn't the best way to hold a conversation, but it's certainly a reasonable part of rhetoric when used judiciously. And I believe I use it judiciously. The vast majority of my posts are collaborative in terms of the discussion taking place, just an exchange of ideas. Once in a while, I think sarcasm is warranted and I think that's fine. I'm okay with people wielding sarcasm against me when they think it's warranted.

oh. Arguing semantics? If its that common, it means its preferred by some or it wouldn't be that common and accepted.

but great job defending belittling behavior instead of just saying we can all be more respectful to each other during communicating.

I know you would all rather biasedly call me out then just speak up about what is the right thing to do…

I'm not on an internet forum to fight for truth and justice and equality. It's a basketball message board.
It's not simply a semantics argument. Saying something is common, and something is the preferred method are two different things and it's an attempt to paint a comment with an entirely different meaning.

Okay ill dismiss this as not thinking it through. And ill avoid the common snark that mods have approved for not thinking things through, But if you are going to remove my ability to post in a thread, then you should also deny anyone quoting or posting to me.

Delete the post, make it so on one can respond to my posts in that thread, i dont care, but to allow hcp to post shit and not allow me to rebuttal is the icing on the cake of biased, unfair favoritism….

get your forum pet back on his leash before he pisses more people off…

Snark doesn't make a good pet. It does not do well in driving conversation. Minstrel was annoyed with yours and Hoopgurus assertion that trans people should be branched into their own class in sports competition. That by the way is discrimination, so it's not a viable concept. Do I think you or Hoop had Ill intentions in putting that thought forth no.

Minstrel, in his vexation took the easy path of sarcasm. He was critical, dismissive, and employed mockery. Could he have handled it differently sure. Could he have tried to communicate more openly with you, of course. Could he have tried for conversation, you bet.

It appears he was as offended at your assertion as you were with his response. You both replied accordingly. I can see how you felt you were being condescended to.

Open conversation is and will always be the best form of communication. There are places for sarcasm and cynicism. They are important parts of rhetoric.

Mods are also posters here. Like anyone else here we have opinions and ideas. Like everyone else here, we aren't always right. We too are in danger of making asses of ourselves.

All the mods here don't all hold the same viewpoints or sentiments. But, when it comes to modding we set that aside and we mod based on the rules alone.

There seems to be this idea that all the mods here should be as dispassionate in our opinions as we should be objective in our modding. That if we fail in this, we are biased and supportive of some cultist identity within this forum.

We can be both be neutral and fair in our modding and express our beliefs.

    As to to tougher skin...

The OT section is home to some very controversial concepts. Emotion often gets the better of us all as we are all ardent in what we believe.

I think we have gotten better at having conversations over the years in OT. Oh, there is plenty room for improvement on all our parts. We should all try to be better, not in a sarcastic sense, but in a real sense.

There will also be points to argue. Try not to take it to seriously. If you see sarcasm, note that it's sarcasm. It's not worth getting upset over. There are alot of characters on here. Alot of competing viewpoints that will often and most assuredly clash. A bit of thick skin can help there.

his assessment is bs. We didn't just say they should have their own section. Thats a wild oversimplification of the ideas we were discussing.
His snark was based off of an incorrect assessment from the get go.

period. There were metabolism and weight class ideas suggested.

Then to claim we lacked sufficient intelligence in our posts to deserve anything more than snark is an insult to our intelligence. Straight up

Instead of just admitting he could have handled his annoyance better, he doubles down and defends it as common practice here. Which means its accepted…
