<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He is hardly in an offensive groove. Then again, Grizzlies veteran Eddie Jones could look around Monday night and see that offensive misery can indeed find company. The swingman continued to search for his shot as the Grizzlies suffered a 67-65 preseason loss to the Orlando Magic in FedExForum. Jones's scoring woes may have again stood out in perhaps any other game during the exhibition schedule. But Pat Garrity's 21-foot jump shot at the buzzer -- on a night filled with insipid shooting -- mercifully put an end to one of the worst preseason games in NBA history. OK, so that isn't known for sure. But the Grizzlies' second preseason loss easily was the worst game that never counted in the standings. Their point total sank below the then-Vancouver Grizzlies' all-time preseason low of 68 points, Jan. 30, 1999, at Seattle. Not to be outdone in the brick-laying competition: The Magic nearly matched its record of 65 points as the all-time preseason low for a Grizzly opponent. "We just wanted to get it over with," Garrity said. So did the disgusted Griz coach, Mike Fratello. Pardon Jones, too, for wanting to end a futile preseason on the offensive end. The Griz departed for their game at Chicago tonight with concerns about offensive spacing, timing and execution. Jones, though, isn't ready to push a panic button. "The bottom line is that it's a new system for me," Jones said after a 4-of-12 shooting night. "I'm trying to learn a new system. I know shots are going to go down for me. I'm a little concerned but I just have to continue to take the same shots I've been talking. Those shots have gone down for me for 12 years." Against the Magic, Jones rushed a shot, left a few short and mostly launched flat attempts. Griz assistant Mitchell Anderson even told Jones to get more arc during a timeout. He's had several shots whirl in the rim and bounce out throughout the preseason. "I get upset when they go in and pop out," Jones said. "But what can you do about it? I try not to get too concerned as long as I'm doing other things out there. Rebounding and playing defense -- that's what you have to do to stay on the floor." </div> Source
