<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Patriots reportedly have expressed interest in Vanderjagt, the Boston Herald reports. Any chance there was of Vanderjagt returning to the Colts evaporated Tuesday, when they signed Adam Vinatieri away from New England. Vanderjagt is the most accomplished free agent kicker available, which means he won't likely come cheap, but the Patriots do have some cash to spend and they need to make some moves to make up for the departures of several popular players, especially Vinatieri.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=roto...owire&type=lgns</div>That would be funny if he signs because then it would mean like both kickers that were with the colts/patroits last year like swap teams lol

Wow... it'd be just like they switched kickers. Not much would really change. The colts would get more clutch and less accuracy and the patriots would get more accuracy and less clutch. I don't think there is any real loser.

IMO that would be a dumb move. Vanderjerk is too old now anyways, he can't kick. Why do you think the Colts got rid of him?

He's a kicker... you can be a good kicker for a long time. Age isn't that much of a problem. Gary Anderson and Morten Andersen were good kickers at like 42.And Vanderjagt is coming off one of his best seasons. He kicked 92% for field goals and 100% for extra points. The Colts didn't "get rid of him", his contract ran out. The reason they didn't resign him is that they got mad he missed that kick against the Steelers. I think they kind of jumped the gun because he is still a Top kicker IMO. But I think they are just really set on making it to the SuperBowl and so they took advantage of Vanderjagt's ending contract and signed Vinatieri. I mean... you don't think the Patriots didn't resign Vinatieri because "he can't kick" do you? It's the same situation, kind of.

If you think Vandy will be half the kicker outside in NE that he was in the dome, you guys are on something.

I was just saying, I don't think they let him go because he can't kick... He can definetely still kick, and so can Vanderjagt.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bobferg @ Mar 22 2006, 03:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>If you think Vandy will be half the kicker outside in NE that he was in the dome, you guys are on something.</div>He won't be "as" effective, but look. He doesn't kick in the RCA dome EVERY game. Half of there games are away too... So he doesn't get that advantage every time. And yet he's still the most accurate kicker in NFL history, has the record for most consecutive field goals (42, 2002-2004), and is 1 of 2 kickers in NFL history to make all field goal attempts through an entire season(with at least 35 attempts[2003]).
