Flamboyant Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco used Twitter last week to brag that if he scored a touchdown against the Patriots, he was going to celebrate by grabbing one of the Minutemen's muskets. But the only shot fired today at Gillette Stadium was by the Patriots: a warning shot to the rest of the NFL.

When Ochocinco scored on a 28-yard touchdown reception with 22 seconds left in the third quarter to cut the Patriots' lead to 31-17, he quietly sprinted to the Bengals bench. It was a rare display of low-key post-TD comportment from the gregarious pass-grabber.

There wasn't much to celebrate Sunday for the Bengals, who were in a 31-3 second-half hole before you could say "re-tweet," but there was cause for celebration for the Patriots, who scored an impressive 38-24 victory over Cincinnati in their season-opener at Gillette Stadium.

"That was a good start for us today. I was really proud of the team," said Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
