I really like this one, and there are some surprising picks. (Remeber Watson and Mankins?) Round 1 - 21 Chad Jackson / WR / Florida Yes it is a WR, however, yes it's a need. Jackson could be here and the Pats have reportedly shown a lot of interest in him. People just jump to conclusions and say, oh we don't draft a WR. Well guess what, last year we tried hard to trade picks with the Ravens to get Mark Clayton, but Baltimore wanted him so bad. Jackson has good speed and good hands, he is Givens's size and has Branch's quickness. This guy will be a good WR. Some of you think a WR in round three can come in and start, like Avant, Hass, or Jennings but that's not true. Jennings, actually could but both Avant and Hass may not be able to beat NFL CB's with their speed issues. Jackson is a great / surprising pick. Round 2 - 52 Victor Adeyanju / LB / Indiana Another surprise pick here. Adeyanju to me is a young Willie McGinest, a pure pass rusher from the DE spot but has the size to play OLB in our scheme. He may be considered to be a 3rd round pick but was Kazcur and Hobbs 3rd round picks? No. At 6-4 274 he is pretty solid and according to nfldraftcountdown loves the weight room. This LB class is so deep getting one in round two is like getting a 1st round LB in other draft classes, and Belichick is a smart guy, he knows that. The WR class is awful meaning a 1st round WR is like a 2nd rounder (not in Jackson's case) but like Avant is a 4th this year, he should be a 5th.. ect. Good pick here. Round 3 - 75 Maurice Drew / RB / UCLA Some say he is like a Kevin Faulk type player and he could be but Drew is a lot stronger and plays bigger then what he is, he has good hands and can KR, a guy the Patriots like. Drew can come in on Monday, April 30th and he'll be ready to play, I don't know if he can carry the ball 20 times a game but I like him in situational roles, and next year we can adress a RB in round 1 if we wanted to but I doubt it. Round 3 - 86 Anthony Smith / S / Syracuse I read something that the Pats like this guy and then I think, he's a FS. Oh wait, instead of drafting another young CB why not move Wilson over there and put Smith in his place, makes since to me, right? Smith is a big hitter so nothing would be lost if Wilson moves over to CB and both have good coverage skills. This picks kills two birds with one stone. Round 4 - 106 Josh Huston / K / Ohio State Some might want that kicker from Memphis but I guess we really liked this kid after we held a workout for him on April 10th. Martin Gramatica is definatly not the answer so bringing in this kid is a good idea. He will shine even more because he'll have competion with Gramatica in traning camp. Round 4 - 118 Dan Stevenson / OG / Notre Dame Finally, a Notre Dame product from the Weis era comes to New England. This is a little reach but gives a lot of depth to Offensive Guards that consist of Stephen Neal, Logan Mankins, and no one else. Now if anything happens to Neal we have an actual second string, not Hotchstein running around every line position. Round 5 - 136 Charles Davis / TE / Purdue We need a 3rd TE on the chart and this isn't a bad option. Davis has nice hands, what Fauria had and he can develop into a good blocker. Davis is a lot of a better prospect then Andy Stokes. A lot better. Round 6 - 191 Frostee Rucker / DE / USC Another DE/LB tweener. This could be a steal, but instead of playing OLB a position that almost everyone sees Rucker switching into, he should stay at DE. Hill has been a dissapointment but he is still young, Rucker can play behind Seymour and Green can move back to his number one position, DT. Round 6 - 205 Adam Jennings / WR / Fresno State Pat Hill should give some information about this guy to Belichick and he could be a solid pick in the later rounds, he'll probably be fighting for a roster spot against PatsFan01 favorite player Bam Childress. Round 6 - 206 Cletis Jackson / CB / Jackson State Select... Andy Stokes / TE / William Penn. Ya that was last year, so drafting another small school prospect couldn't hurt. Jackson is a nice little project who can develop into a good cover CB, he'll be fighting for a spot, this could turn out into one of two situations, Christian Morton or Randall Gay. And yes, CB is not a need. Round 7 - 229 Mark LeVoir / OT / Notre Dame Adds depth at the O-line.
