http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/435...ns_to_practice/ <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Pau Gasol returned to practice on Friday, but the Grizzlies are still not sure when he will see game action. "He's allowed to be on the floor and take part in anything that's not contact, no contact at all," said coach Mike Fratello. "Next week, we'll see what the doctors say." "Sometimes around mid-December, he ought to be back playing," James Hyde III said.</div> Good, the Grizz really need him right now, they are incredibly weak inside without him and they have no #1 option without him. But I'm surprised to hear that he might return in a couple weeks, he wasn't supposed to come back until after Christmas. Hopefully he doesn't rush anything, and hopefully he comes back strong. There is still plenty of time to make a case for a playoff position. My question is, who will start at center? Will Pau start at center with Warrick staying at the 4?
I don't think the Grizzlies will be able to make the playoffs with such a bad start in the deep west. I guess that's all it takes to lose your playoff hopes in the west.
Rumor are said that doctors said after Chrismas, so if he didnt have a good recovery(which he has) and he didnt come back b4 chrismas, the blame wouldnt be on them. I dont see us making the playoffs unless another team just completely drops. CelticBalla, you mentioned we have no inside presence, Hakim Warrick is averaging 16ppg, and Rudy Gay 9ppg(who posts up alot). Im really excited about when hes 100%. He probably wont be until after All-Star break, but when he is, Memphis is going to be elite. Our lineup would bePG-Chucky AtkinsSG-Mike Miller or Dahntey JonesSF-Rudy Gay or Mike Miller(if Jones starts at SG)PF-Hakim WarrickC-Pau Gasol

But he is far from a go-to guy in the post. Rudy Gay an inside option? What? You guys have nothing inside without Pau. You get some athleticism down there from Hakim and Swift, but that's it. No inside presence.
Yeah that lineup totally depends on Gasol. They don't have a second inside player so Gasol will need to be a big scorer/playmaker when he comes back like last year.
Yeah, Rudy Gay actually posts up tons, and when he does hes very productive. People are comparing him to a shorter but more athletic version of Sheed.
