If I held the patents he does, I'd sue. I'm sure I've infringed on those very patents. Glad I'm a turnip.
Here is the link for those of us who are lazy (myself included). http://www.pcworld.com/article/204329/allen_sues_google_apple_others_over_patents.html
While the whole world is calling him a "patent troll" and a douchebag, I will refrain. If getting settlements from Google and Co, results in him going well over the luxury tax amount to pay Nic and Go, I'm all for it.
I find this lawsuit ironic since windows seem to mimic some of Apples colors/themes. Notice the two blue color schemes, just rotated?
(Pre-PS...I'm replying when you have 4 posts total on this site.) At least two of your first 4 posts have COMPLETELY SUCKED.
it's pretty easy...if he has the patents, they have to pay up. And if they want to countersue for the Blue and yin, then more power to them.
Maybe now he'll feel "comfortable enough" to fork up the couple million dollars he owes local businesses from his "bankruptcy".
This lawsuit is very sad, very interesting and ultimately very good for us Blazer fans. We're looking at 20 years of serious litigation. Google, Apple, Yahoo, eBay, Facebook, YouTube and Netflix are not going to only defend themselves with everything they have they are going to files lawsuits against PA and the Vulcans. This will drag on and on and on. Lawsuits, counter-suits, appeals, etc. Even if PA has a strong winnable case it will still be a couple of decades before it's settled. I think this is more of a move to preserve his legacy then it is to increase his fortunes. If PA were to die in the near future the things that he loves most like the Blazers, Seahawks, Rose Garden and EMP would be some of the first things Jody & the Vulcans would sell off. While I'm not a lawyer I believe that there is going to be so much litigation filed against him over this that Vulcan will be unable to sell off these major assets until all of this is finally settled.
I am unable to decipher if you're joking or not. It's doubtful this litigation will ever be anything major, and even if it goes for years (20 years? when was the last lawsuit that took anything close to that), it means nothing to us. What it DOES mean, imho, is that he's obviously gunning to move the team to Seattle, so it'll be easier for him to multi-task.
Amazing the mindreaders on this team. One mindreader is sure Paul Allen is dying (technically of course we all are) and that his teams would be the first thing his sister sells. Apparently Mr. Allen is not smart enough to arrange his inheritance to safeguard his loved possessions. Another mind reader is sure this legal case means he is moving the team.
The Exxon Valdez lawsuit took almost 20 years to settle. While not the same type of lawsuit considering the parties involved in PA's lawsuit I'm putting my faith in the lawyers for both sides to put in years and years worth of billable hours. 20 years might be a slight exaggeration but I can see this going on for easily over a decade. We're talking about the building blocks that many of these companies were founded on. As far as kidding goes I hope you were in your Blazers to Seattle comment. That will never happen in the foreseeable future.
