Entering the 2006 NBA Draft out of Louisiana Tech, is Paul Milsap going unoticed? Will he slip a bit considering that most GMs in the lotto are thinking of guys like Tyrus Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay, Adam Morrison, Rodney Carney, and more. Milsap, only 6-8, but 245 lbs, averaged close to 20 ppg and 14 rpg. Pretty impressive stats when you're only 6-8. But I guess it helps when you have extra bulk to support you underneath the basket. The thing is, Milsap plays in a relatively weak conference, where not alot of star players are heard of. If an NBA team drafts him in the late first round, will he be considered a steal? Thoughts?
Great rebounder, pounds the O boards. Most mocks have him low 1st round. Could for sure be a steal in the draft if a team gives him chances. I wouldnt mind Mavs getting him, but they might be looking for a diffrent position
he'll be a nice pick in the late first round, but no one picking in the lottery should even consider him. He'll be a career 8 ppg, 9 rpg guy, maybe.
Those 8 ppg and 9 rpg are what alot of teams look for in the late first round though. You cant expect a whole lot in the later parts of the first round even though there are ussually a couple of guys in each draft that do well that are picked in the 2nd round. I would love to have a guy on the spurs that could come in his rookie year and put up numbers like 6 ppg and 7 rpg or something like that.
I think he's going unnoticed because of his size and like you said not in a strong conference. But I can't really say much because he's probably going to go where he's supposed to.
He's around 6'6" 240, he's around the size of Marcus Hicks and Jason Maxiell, not to mention the bad conference.
In his prime he will be Udonis Haslem now. Which isn't bad at all, he's a hustle guy that works hard on both ends and is a monster rebounder. I think he will be a very solid player, and I agree, he is underrated. This draft is not full of franchise players by any means, but it does have a lot of guys that could be good roll players down the road.
