<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> OKLAHOMA CITY -- New Orleans rookie point guard Chris Paul will start for the Hornets against Detroit on Tuesday night despite a torn ligament in his thumb, coach Byron Scott said.

Paul tore the ligament on the inside of his right thumb Friday during the Hornets' 90-80 win over Portland. He missed the Hornets' last game, a 101-93 loss at Atlanta on Saturday.

Paul is the NBA leader among rookies in scoring, assists, steals and minutes. He was expected to be out at least two weeks.</div>

So much for two weeks, eh? I hope this kid doesn't hurt himself even more. I like him a lot, I'd hate for him to do more damage.

The kid already has the heart, soul, and determination of a captain. As he matures and grows there is no telling how good he is going to be. Chris Paul is my favorite player from this years draft he is head and shoulders above all other rookies. Truly a man among boys out there .

The kid is a god, he really is.

He's extremely talented, is a great leader, is a wonderful young man, is enormously passionate and has proven to be as tough as you'll find.

    I love this kid.

Hey, watch the language. That's a violation of JBB guidelines. I don't want you to be warned/banned/suspened.

    Give him time.

Chris has had a positive impact on the whole team but sadly some guys are just really immature and the only thing that makes them mature is time.

Paul and Smith are reputedly off-court buds. Smith just needs to play defense and rebound, then his offense will come around. Paul is as charismatic a young man as I have ever seen. Did anyone else see the spots Fox New Sports made with him for the Wake-Duke game on Sunday the 8th? If I made shoes, sports apparral, heck-- anything, I'd seriously get this man to be my pitchman. He makes Lebron look like LeBore.

    Really?

    They seem like polar opposites.

Paul the genuine, classy and respectful young man and J.R the arrogant, immature kid.

Yeah, know what you mean, but Paul's a tough kid from a rough rural neighborhood in a very poor area of North Carolina and is very gregarious and bonds well with fellow players and fans, not to mention the other dragons of the NBA who have whistles and rule books. He's Isaiah Thomas with empathy
and toughness in lieu of meanness. It's pretty well documented in press articles (NOLA June-Sept) that they were good friends off court. J.R. is having personal issues right now with his ability and confidence and the coach is right to let him work this out with the support of his team. The coaches will work hard with him, but he has to step up with defense and rebounding and the open shots will fall.

    Thanks for that.

It's hard to get background information on these guys in my part of the world (basketball coverage is one NBA game on ESPN a week, and the odd Sportscenter), so i really appreciate it.

Yeah, even here in NC the NBA coverage is nonexistant in the papers and relegated to the last page after hunting and fishing. Not that I don't like to fish. Never thought of hunting as a sport. Tracking and sneaking up on a wild animal maybe, but blowing a hole in it? www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-20/112918426274430.xml I'll see if I can find you a better link. CP referred to J.R. and himself as "we're boys" as in buds.
