<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There was a championship parade in Miami on Friday. The Heat's Shaquille O'Neal was holding a mike. Fans were in absolute hysteria, and even coach Pat Riley was getting jiggy with it. And as you watched the coach with five rings absorb the euphoria, as a city watched in jubilation, there were two people any basketball-crazed Philadelphian should have been thinking about: Larry Brown and Allen Iverson.

    The moments they gave us.

The memories so distant from us now.

Both O'Neal and Riley could retire today, never to be seen again in NBA circles, and the one advantage they would have is that element insatiably desired by us all: peace, of heart and mind. Neither will ever depart with questions in his head, his heart aching over what was, what might have been. Not only did they get rings, they also saw the moment and snatched opportunity before it faded.

Brown, the Hall of Fame coach, and Iverson, the future Hall of Famer, can boast of many things involving their illustrious careers. Fulfillment may never be one of them.

As we look back at 2001, reminiscing about a surreal 56-26 season that ended in the NBA Finals for the 76ers, we must also recall the 2006 season and how sad it is that there was nothing fulfilling or rewarding for either Iverson or Brown.</div>
