Peavy looks strong in spring debut

    "Jake Peavy took another positive step in his comeback from surgery on Friday, facing the minimum six Angels he faced over two innings of a Cactus League game.

    For Peavy, a former Cy Young Award winner whom the Sox are counting on to bolster their starting rotation, it was much more than a spring training game. And it couldn't have gone much better.

    "Today it was good to throw breaking balls, make big league hitters swing and miss and throw some fastballs around 90 miles an hour," said Peavy, who struck out two and walked one while allowing no hits. "The last time I stood on the mound...it wasn't pretty and it wasn't a pretty feeling I had.''"
