People complain everywhere. In Seattle, in Pittsburgh, in Kansas City, and in Boston. All around the country people complain about how the big evil empire is always a contender while their team isn't.But don't the Yankees deserve it?Facts (via ESPN Radio):The New York Yankees lost 50 million in 2005.The Pittsburgh Pirates made 20 million in 2005.The Kansas City Royals made 25 million in 2005.The Seattle Mariners made 30 million in 2005.The Boston Red Sox made 55 million in 2005.Is it just me, or do the Yankees just plain care more? They deserve to win and be yearly contenders for the Championship because they care more than the other guy. And that's what America is all about, getting ahead by working harder and caring more than the guy next to you.

Dude you basically nailed it on the head. And I hate how everyone complains about the Yankees spending. Every team can spend that much if the owners weren't too cheap.Take into account John Henry and the Sox. If he had been willing to spend about $5 million more, he would have A-Rod and Damon in Red Sox unis. And I think the Marlins owner can manage to spend a bit more then $15 million.

Oh boy, here we go again....First of All, All of these numbers have to be taken with a Grain of Salt anyways, because through some Creative Accounting you could make any Franchise look like it's losing money when in Reality it isnt. For example, the Yankees themselves might be losing 50 million dollers, but at the same time the YES Network, owned by George Steinbrenner, could be making 75 million dollers a year that isnt factored into the Origional Number. Yet without the Yankees, Steinbrenner wouldnt own the YES Network. Without seeing an exact breakdown of all the numbers its Impossible to tell how Credible the Numbers you are using are. One reason for the Yankees to do such a thing would be to help in the fighting off of a Hard Salary Cap. :whistling: Not to mention that even if George Steinbrenner is in reality losing money and not caring about it, you cannot expect, or even ask, other owners to spend Millions of Dollers out of their own pocket to do the same thing. You would be putting half of Baseball Owners into Bankruptcy if they actually did what you guys are asking them to do. The NHL tried the exact same thing as you guys are by asking for years. By other teams needing to spend money to keep up with the Powerhouse Teams like the New York Rangers, the league almost went into Bankruptcy, and did have a Strike of over a Full Season because of it. And Yes, you can point to some of the more profitable franchises and say that they could do more, but if you look at this past Offseason they all tried to do more by making roster moves. Kansas City Royals signed Reggie Sanders, Doug Mientkiewicz, Mark Grudzielanek, Scott Elarton, Elmer Dessens, and Paul Bako. The Pirates spent their money on DaMaso Marte, Sean Casey, Jeremy Burnitz, Roberto Hernandez and extended Jack Wilson. The Seattle Mariners used their money to keep Eddie Guardado, Raul Ibanez and signed Kenji Jojhima and Jarrod Washburn. And Boston did a ton of moves such as trading for or signing Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell, Wily Mo Pena, Rudy Seanez, Mark Loretta, Coco Crisp, Alex Gonzalez, and Julian Tavarez. It's not like the majority of these Owners are just sitting there and Pocketing Millions of Dollers like the Average Yankee Fan assumes, they are reinvesting the money in the team somehow by either investing in a New Stadium, New Equipment, or Better Players. All of those teams you mentioned tried to do at least something to help the team be a little bit better then they were in past years, but between certain signings not panning out, and still a Drastic Difference in the Talent level between teams, it didn't work out.Not all teams have 200 million Dollers to spend on their payroll, and because of that some kind of handicap needs to be put in place to keep the competitive balance in between teams. Ideally, Baseball needs to set up a Hard Salary Cap so that teams can only spend between a certain amount of money on Payroll. Something between 50 and 110 million, for example, would be somewhat reasonable for all teams (Except for the Yankees and Marlins. lol)
