Exactly. Before Webber got the tip, every Knick didn`t want to take the chance, and they just draped themselves all over him.
Yup, that's indeed a perfect example, but yet you could show this to everyone and there will be a couple people that will argue to the end that he is not just overrated, but the MOST overrated player in the league. I just don't get it.
Great find. I've always respected Iversons talents and what he has to go up against night in and night out.

Simply amazing.
The fact that Allen Iverson is still holding the ball in this shot is reason enough for me to vastly dislike his playing style.* And the fact that you can use one still to portray your reasons for respecting him seems a little circumscribed, and perhaps a mite flawed. *-This statement is sarcasm, it is being used to illustrate a point. In truth, I vastly dislike his game for many reasons, none of them well summed up by one photograph of one split instant of a basketball game.

Very obviously, it was illustrative, not symbolic, and I should have taken it as such. That in mind, I have no intention of starting a flame war, and please use your fine brain to make your points, rather than your less-that-scathing wit, it doesn't suit you. And yes, the picture is a perfect example of the attention teams pay to him, but I once again stand by the idea that the ball should not be in his hands at that instant. The fact that he's looking to take a foul, and not looking for a teammate is what makes me wonder.

No, I do not know how it played out, and for the purposes of this particular forum, I can only base my assumptions (there it is again) on what I saw in the picture. That said, I assume (yes, assume) you're going to tell me he dished it off, which is a good thing, and more power to him for doing so.
I think it's a perfect example of how short Nate Robinson really is, and why Larry Brown is disgusted by Stephon Marbury. Put your damn hands up on defense Stephon. He actually looks like he's in a position to field a pass from AI instead of playing defense.
No to take away from AI or anything he's ever accomplished, but you could take similar pictures of guys like Kobe, McGrady, or Pierce every game. Being a Celtics fan, I see 4-5 guys focused on Pierce at least 3 plays per game, especially when he drives the lane. The thing that makes these guys superstars is the fact that they can get themselves out of these situations. I'm sure AI either passed it off or got fouled after the picture was taken, when most players would have turned it over.

The fact that he's looking to take a foul, and not looking for a teammate is what makes me wonder" when you don't even know what happened after the pic was taken. Yes, he does have the ball in his hands, but if he penetrated, drew the defense and found an open teammate, he should be lauded not condemned. But you seem to have a predisposition for hating Allen Iverson and making assumptions so it's all very clear why you can't grasp such a concept.

The guys you mentioned are all at least 6'6" and 210lbs.

Yes, AI is alot quicker and alot more elusive than 99% of the players in the league, but when you consider that easily half of his shots are taken in the paint where 90% of the guys who play down there are easily 8" or more taller than him and outweigh him by 100lbs or better, then you not only have more respect for the things he accomplishes on the court. Then, factor in the abuse he gets nightly and the fact that not only does it not deter him but he still goes right back at them and puts up the numbers he does, and you realize that in Allen Iverson we have one of, if not the best little men of all time.
I'm banging my head against a wall here. All I was saying was that my assumptions were drawn on the image you provided me with. You yourself stated that we could only deal with image here, it was not a symbol of any other point being made, so I ran with what you gave me. I told you my interpretation of what I saw, and I got derided. As for actually insulting me over this nonsense, boy, you need to chill. This isn't a war. No I don't like Allen Iverson, however, I do not condemn everything he does. I do not think that he is the worst thing that happened to the game. I don't disrespect him for all the racist conspiracy theories you keep spewing. I simply think his game rubs me the wrong way. That being said, I actually like the fact that he tends to spit in the face of the league's authoritarian ruling class. He makes them think twice, and that makes me proud to be watching this era of basketball, because the NBA Commissioner, for as long as the post has existed, has been a fella that nobody wants to tangle with. Anti-trust violations, shady negotiating with the Player's Union, all kinds of labor infringements, these are the kind of things I hate about the NBA, and this group that seems to think it's so untouchable is actually scared of this guy, I love it! That said, there is no personal affront here. This is not an issue anyone else seems to have. But that's above and beyond my point. You provided me with a picture, I told you what I thought of it, get over it. If you have a conflicting opinion, great, let me know what it is (that's hypothetical, I really don't want to hear your conflicting opinion on this subject anymore, I know what it is, and I've tried desperately to explain, to no avail), and let's discuss it. This childish nonsense is so far beyond what you claim boards are about, and I don't want you watering down the intelligent discourse on this site. And as for your claim that he is the best little man of all time, rubbish. Bob Cousy rings a bell (at least he won something), John Stockton comes to mind (equally winless, but a hall of famer nonetheless), Calvin Murphy is in the running, even Isiah Thomas is in front of AI. That's to say nothing of Lenny Wilkens, Tiny Archibald, Earl the Pearl, KC Jones, and Jerry West. And spare me the diatribe about how much greater and different he is than all those players, because while you may be able to dispute some (I'll happily put up an argument), there are some in that list that AI just doesn't even touch, and you're doing the game a straight-up disservice to not acknowledge that. Please refrain from your coarse nonsense and talk some actual basketball with me, once again, your fine brain makes you sound an awful lot more convincing than your less-than-scathing wit.

We are talking about players being trapped by multiple defenders. I don't care if a player is 5'4" or 6'10", if you're being guarded by 4 defenders, you're not getting a decent shot up. Your best bet is eluding the defenders, or gaining enough room to draw a foul. In that regard, Iverson is the most likely candidate to make the best out of the situation since he's quicker than all of his defenders. That's all. If you'd like me to give credit to AI, then I will. He is pound-for-pound the best player in the game, and overall top 5. I respect him, his game, and I wish he was on the Celtics. I am not trying to criticize him at all by disagreeing with you. I just think that this specific situation happens to be one of the rare ones in which Iverson has an advantage over all other players.
