<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Even though the Hornets were playing in their sixth road game in nine days, Hornets center Tyson Chandler bounced around with energy as if it were opening night. Chandler shot 10-for-10, including nine dunks, and had 10 rebounds to lead New Orleans to a 106-77 victory Wednesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. "I was thinking about it during the meeting this morning that if we lose this game it would have made this entire road trip very disappointing," said Chandler, who scored 16 points in the first half. "So I wanted to come out right away and give my team some energy." The Hornets won five of the six games on the road trip that started March 25 and included victories against Indiana (114-106), Cleveland (100-99), Toronto (118-111) and Orlando (98-97). New Orleans' only loss was to the Boston Celtics (112-92). "We control our own destiny. We definitely showed a lot of poise and a lot of concentration, and we got it done," point guard Chris Paul said. "I think when (Chandler) got off to a good start, it really sparked us. Tyson is one of those guys who is always helping everybody else and putting the tips back in when we miss. He had his post moves going early, and his energy motivated the rest of us." The Hornets (52-22) remain atop the Western Conference standings and have won eight of nine games with eight remaining in the regular season. New Orleans also achieved its 25th road victory, a franchise record. Forward David West led the Hornets with 22 points. Paul scored 14 points and had 10 assists. Peja Stojakovic, who made a clinching shot Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic, scored 12 points. "I thought we came out aggressive in the first half, and I thought we did a good job being active on the defensive end," Hornets Coach Byron Scott said. "We did a good job contesting and rebounding." Chandler scored in double figures in all six games. Against the Heat, he easily got to his comfort spot near the basket, and the Heat's overmatched front court could not keep him away. Chandler helped to put the game out of reach early. The Hornets started on a 14-2 run. He made all eight shots from the field in the first half to help the Hornets take a 54-41 halftime lead. The Hornets built a 30-point lead in the fourth quarter. The only scare the Hornets got came near the end of the third quarter, when the Heat cut their 14-point lead to 68-61. But West closed the quarter by scoring six consecutive points to keep the Hornets ahead 74-66.</div> The Times-Picayune
