I havent posted in a wee bit, but i feel something should be said. WHERE THE HELL IS PERKINS!!! We are hvaing trouble on the boards yet he isn't in there. Raef is playing like he is hurt and tom was having an off night. I love waltah as much as the next guy, but he cant rebound. Our fastbreak offense starts with 2 things, turnovers and rebounds. Pierce was the only player consistently hitting the boards. With perkins in there we lose the shooting range at the power foward sport we get a shot blocking big man the is aggressive on both boards. I was just wondering if anyone else thought of it or agreed with me.
lol. Oops. So did sam perkins retire? I remember him on the Laker team for his droopy eyes. He could knock down those three's though.
He used to play for the Pacers after the Lakers. But yea I do think he retired about 2 or 3years ago.

Kendrick Perkins is a monster on the boards and has the talent to block 3 shots a night and get 8 boards. He isn't the most productive offensive PF but he has a nice shooting touch and he's gonna be huge for this Celtics basketball team
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jesus:</div><div class="quote_post">Perkins > Blount</div> I've got to disagree with you there. Don't you think that Doc, who sees these guys everyday in practice and knows better than you or I, would put the best players on the floor? I think that Perkins is buried on the depth chart behind Blount, Raef, Googs and Jefferson for a reason. Keep in mind, he dealt with some injuries during the summer leagues - maybe they're carrying over or he's slow to get into the groove. But, on a positive note, at least he's been active for every game, which is an improvement from last year.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BBallin4life:</div><div class="quote_post">Hah! Tyson Chandler, what a bust! </div> I'm not down on Chandler as much as I am on Curry. Chandler had been hurt for most of last season, so I'll give him a few games to get back into it. I agree with Simmons, that Chandler could be a solid Marcus Camby-type with a change of scenery. Curry has the size, the skills - but no heart. But just to get back to the topic of the thread, what does it say about Perkins when he couldn't get any pt in the game against the Blazers, even if it was just mop up duty at the end of the first half when the C's were up big? Jefferson got some solid time (and looked great, by the way) so its not like Doc has a problem playing high schoolers.

Chicago traded Elton Brand for him and what has he done? Nothing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting mrj18:</div><div class="quote_post">Chandler is a major bust plain and simple. Chicago traded Elton Brand for him and what has he done? He's put up descent numbers, but if he was the guy worthy of the first pick in the draft shouldn't he have led a team to the playoffs ONCE?
I have to say that I don't agree with either one here. Chandler is not a clear bust, he still has the talent and is young enough that he still has time to prove his doubters wrong. That said, I don't know if he was worthy of such a high pick, not do I think it was a good trade for the Bulls, giving up Elton Brand to get the pick. Curry is not an obvious "bust" either, but considering the Bulls had the 2nd and 4th pick and are now considering trading both players, I'd say they blew the draft. They could have picked up Gasol, Jason Richardson, Joe Johnson, Richard Jefferson, Zach Randolph, Tony Parker, etc. etc. As for CeltsMan54's comment, I don't think it's fair to blame Brand for not being able to lead the Clips to the playoffs. I mean, we're talking about the Clips here. If Sterling would keep some of the talent that has come their way past their rookie contract, I'm sure Brand would have had enough support to lead them to April, possibly further. By the way, the 2001 draft was cursed. Many teams just blew it that year, including the Celtics who had 3 first round picks (remember that blunder?), Jordan selected Kwame with the 1st pick, and Diop, Rodney White and Kedrick Brown were all picked up with lottery picks, Gilbert Arenas, Okur, and Earl Watson all fell to the 2nd round, not to mention Tony Parker going 29th. What an ugly mess.
Sorry, to get back to the post, I agree with many here - where the hell is Perkins? I was hoping for a solid 10 minutes per from this kid this year. Especially with the C's early rebounding woes (which is improving by the way), you'd think Doc would have given him minutes. Does anyone know what's the reason? I have not read any articles about it or heard anything from Doc or other players. What's going on?

I just thought this: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting mrj18:</div><div class="quote_post">Chandler is a major bust plain and simple. Chicago traded Elton Brand for him and what has he done? Nothing.</div> was overboard. Brand has had better numbers, but not better team success, so how can you say that it was a horrible trade? It's not like this was Tractor Traylor for Dirk. Maybe I'm just not as high on Brand as everyone else - to me there is no difference between Elton Brand and Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Both guys who put up good numbers on bad teams.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting celtfan:</div><div class="quote_post">Sorry, to get back to the post, I agree with many here - where the hell is Perkins? </div> I got an up-close look at him tonight and as near as I can tell, there was nothing wrong with him. He seemed to be moving fine, had a nice putback of an offensive rebound in a couple of mop-up minutes when Raef, Blount and Jefferson got into some foul trouble. He looked in pretty good shape to me, but maybe the back problems he was having during the summer leagues kept him really getting in basketball shape, so he has to work his way into the rotation.
