<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MOTOWN-BOUND? Don't be surprised if Rasheed Wallace, newly acquired by Hawks, is dealt to Pistons and in time to face Knicks tonight at Garden. Don't be surprised, sources accentuate, if Rashweed Wallace is in uniform tonight at the Garden when the Knicks host the Pistons - only not in a Knick uniform. Now that Wallace is a member of the Hawks, the Pistons, who didn't have the necessary assets to acquire him from the Blazers, have intensified their pursuit - along with at least one other team, perhaps the Mavericks whose All-Star-like lineup is the league's path of least resistance. Chances of Joe Dumars capturing his prey for Detroit are better than good. Before I boarded a flight back to New York yesterday I was advised the Pistons' VP was playing tag with Billy Knight and the Hawks' GM was it. The incoming owners clearly aren't thrilled at the prospects of being represented by Rashweed. </div> I have a hard time believing anything this guy writes, but this was worth posting. Full Story
Thanks for sharing AllNet, great news if you ask me. Having Sheed would be great, although the Pistons are good on offense, they're quite a defensive team. With that said, gaining Sheed would be awesome. Some size which most of the Pistons lack, some great offense and some great defense. Big Ben would finally have a big man helping him with blocking, defending and the boards. Not taking anything away from Hamilton, Prince and Billups' efforts though.
Rashweed is talented, but i'm not sold on his heart and work ethic. Hopefully this is an instance where the team's character rubs off on him, and not vice versa. I guess we'll wait and see tonight.
I can't really argue that having Rasheed would be bad. However, I would rather have some of the other players that are being announced as possible Pistons. Ah well, I won't exactly be dissapointed if we get him, as long as he doesn't ruin team chemistry.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting iamme:</div><div class="quote_post">Rashweed is talented, but i'm not sold on his heart and work ethic.</div> Amen to that. Wallace has shown a penchant for disappearing at inopportune times. One would hope, were he to be acquired, that the work ethic of Ben and others would be sufficient to keep Rasheed in line, but the NBA hiearchy is a sensitive and volatile thing - who knows.
Was mentioned on insider and basically disussed what the Hawks need, which is ending contracts and future picks.
The Hawks need those things and according to the article. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Meanwhile, the Pistons have the critical goods Atlanta wants - a spare No. 1 pick and enough contracts (belonging to Bob Sura, Lindsey Hunter, Zeljko Rebraca, Darvin Ham and Tremaine Fowlkes) that expire at season's end which almost equal Wallace's $17 million salary. </div> I wouldn't mind trading those players in a second. We don't lose anybody. I mean, that deal is unfair and we would probably have to package somebody else but if it accepted as that, Pistons are champions. We wouldn't lose Corliss, Chucky, Memo, or Prince. Nobody is missing except players that we all hate!
Latest news on the trade Dumars wants Hawks to take Corliss and Atkins but Hawks aren't willing to do that. Imagine if the deal got cancelled because of that reason.
I don't understand why we are trying to get rid of Chucky! I like Chucky and his contract is reasonable. There is no real reason if we get Rasheed. He probably isn't staying after the season, and that is absolutely enough money to resign Okur. What am I missing?

Yes, but if we get Rasheed, then it is 17 million off the cap next year. Enough to resign Okur under any situation. I wouldn't really want to overpay for Okur, if anybody offers him more than 9 million, I would say that he walks.
Well, looks like there won't be a trade. Not tonight, at least. John Hammonds, Pistons' VP was on sports radio tonight. he said no trade was ready to go. he said they've been talking with teams, but nothing's set in stone yet. of course he could just be lying to keep things on the down low.
New information, it looks like the trade is almost finalized. There is a press conference being held at 2 PM, which looks to be about Rasheed. David Aldridge is reporting that the Pistons got a deal worked out with Atlanta. Look at this lineup! PG: Billups/Hunter SG: Hamilton/Prince SF: Wallace/Williamson/Ham PF: Wallace/Darko/Ham C: Memo/Campbell What a horrible lack of depth in the backcourt. What are we going to do? Although, people are going to be scared of our starting lineup.
If the trade for Wallace does happen I expect Dumars to either sign a few guys from free-agency or trade for a guy like Fizer.
