Nov 14 - T.J. Ford is seventh in the league in assists (8.1) and Jose Calderon is 15th at 6.6. Their scoring, for what it's worth, is 13.6 and 8.0 points/game, respectively. Start adding and what's not to like?

More impressively, each man can make exactly this statement: Nobody in the NBA has more assists and a better rate of assists to turnovers. It sounds weird, but Calderon has 46 helpers and nine turnovers for a 5.1 A/T number. Ford is 57 and 15 for 3.8. They combine for better than 4 to 1 and those are outstanding numbers. (Paul, to compare, is 3.4, Williams is 2.7.)

"It's just a different scenario. Those guys get to play major minutes and the team really revolves around those guys,'' said Ford, who averages 28 minutes to Calderon's 19. "My situation is different, being able to have Jose and being able to split time.'' -- Toronto Star

[*]"They do a good job of finding everybody, and they make the right plays." said Chris Bosh, who is a common beneficiary of Forderon's largesse. "When you can keep pressure like that on a team for 48 minutes with those two coming in and out of the game, it helps everybody, because you can cut to the basket and you can get open shots."
    [*]

Nowhere in the league are there two true point guards splitting nearly all 48 minutes - Ford plays an average of 28.1 a game and Calderon 19.1 -- so effectively. -- Toronto Globe and Mail

Forderon? Is Grange getting cute on us?

Yes, it's swell for the Raps that their PG's combine for a great turnover to assist ratio but the only stat that counts is wins. Hopefully, their great output is matched by team wins soon.

What they don't say is that TJ only turns the ball over in the first and last three minutes of the game (joking but it's getting there).

The difference I've noticed is that Mitchell doesn't really play them like a partnership anymore. Calderon's minutes are down slightly, but more importantly he's given Ford the benefit of the doubt way more than last season. Last year, I felt like they were a duo and while one was playing more than the other, they played off each other and the hot hand would run the team on any given night. This year, I distinctly get the impression that Calderon is Ford's backup and TJ is going to get his minutes regardless of how good/bad he's playing.
