this game can make or break the sixers playoff hopes. do i want them to make the playoffs? well, i dont know. i dont really care, but this is an important game, and i hope for the best. i just hope we see less of webber, and more of hunter and sammy. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Philadelphia 76ers have resurrected their playoff hopes, even without Chris Webber. The 76ers hope to have their second-leading scorer back in action as they shoot for a third straight win when they meet the Atlantic Division champion New Jersey Nets. Philadelphia has won back-to-back games without Webber, who is listed as day-to-day due to a lower back strain. He is averaging 20.3 points and 9.9 rebounds. The 76ers are tied with the Chicago Bulls for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot. Philadelphia trailed Chicago by one game before beating the Bulls 89-75 on Saturday as Webber was a late scratch before tip-off. The Sixers prevailed again without him with a 105-97 victory over Washington on Monday. Allen Iverson had 26 points and 15 rebounds and Steven Hunter matched a career high with 20 points in place of Webber. "We are playing with a lot of confidence right now and we believe in each other more than ever," Iverson said. "We are looking forward to trying to get in the playoffs and make something happen." Coach Maurice Cheeks has used a lineup featuring the 7-foot Hunter and 6-11 Samuel Dalembert, and it has paid off the last two games. "When you have two 7-footers in the game like that it does a lot for your defense because you have two guys that are aggressive, usually playing inside the paint," Cheeks said. Philadelphia is beginning a difficult three-game road trip in which it will also meet Miami and surging Orlando. Iverson believes going on the road will help the Sixers. "I think that when we are in tough environments, it helps us focus more and it helps us concentrate," he said. "You don't have to worry about the same things that you have to worry about at a home game. We know we need to focus that much harder on the road." New Jersey fell for the second time in three games following a 14-game winning streak with a 104-101 loss at Chicago on Tuesday. Vince Carter scored 17 of his 43 points in the final two minutes, but it wasn't enough to overcome Bulls leading scorer Ben Gordon's 21 fourth-quarter points. "They wanted it a little bit more than us," Carter said. "They're looking to secure a spot. But we're still playing for something as well. Our season's not over yet." The Nets had a six-game road winning streak snapped and fell 3 1/2 games behind Miami in the race for the No. 2 seed in the East. New Jersey has allowed three of its last four opponents to score more than 100 points after not doing so for its previous 14 games. Since joining New Jersey on Dec. 17, 2004, Carter is averaging 35.0 points and 9.4 rebounds in five games against the Sixers. </div> link: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/preview?gid=2006041217
Great game, I hope they put a beating on them again on Tuesday since I'm going there. On-Topic the Sixers have been playing great basketball as of late. Moments like these are when the truly great players shine and Iverson is doing everything he can to get Philly into the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if they upset Miami on Friday either.
well if everything goes our way we should. Wade missed miami's last game do anyone know if he will play friday?. And if we keep winning we could get the 5seed in play cleveland. And we could possibly upset them.
I agree that playing the Cavs is the easiest way to advance into the 2nd round but we need to win every game that we have remaining.
Since when has Steven Hunter become such a huge part in our game plan? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the same guy who got traded a couple months ago?

I'd rather play the Nets in the first round. It's really a toss up, but as of late, the Cavs have been on fire. The Nets are too but they're since they're 14 game winning streak they're only 1-3.
