The Phillies didn't look so good on Opening Day. Brett Myers couldn't take the heat, so he gave up some home runs. Now the Phillies are looking for Jamie Moyer, a 46-year-old pitcher, to be the guy for the job. Even though he turned 46 a couple of months ago, he still has stuff left in the tank. He can still do it. He threw in 196 innings last year. He capped off a win for the Phillies as they won the NL East last year. That was their second consecutive NL East championship they won. With that, Moyer also joins other pitchers (Phil Niekro, Satchel Paige, and Jack Quinn) to be the first ones to win 10 games or more in season while being 45-years-old or older. It'll be one hell of a match-up in the pitching standpoint. Let's hope he won't slump like other pitchers who have done so. The 22-year-old is pretty amazing at what he does. He allowed only .53 home runs per every nine innings he has pitched in, which means he is in fourth-place in the NL in that category. He has only allowed two runs in the 15 innings he has pitched in Citizens Bank Park. So with that, he is 1-2 with a 3.33 ERA in his four starts against the Phillies, according to MLB.com. Jamie Moyer Moyer works a lot on his pitches. He uses a lot of time on them. But even though he does do that, the Braves have so much amount of success against the veteran. Last year, he went 0-0 with a 6.55 ERA in two starts last year. But that wasn't enough. He is 3-8 with a 5.56 ERA in his 14 match-ups against the Braves in his meaningful career. Can Moyer bring it on today? Could the Phillies win? Can they bring on revenge towards the Braves after a horrible loss? If the Phillies lead after eight innings, I guarantee you they will! According to the stats, they were 79-0 (yes, that is undefeated) last year after leading eight straight innings.
