Playing some respectable D so far...although Philly has helped by throwing the ball out of bounds a couple times and blowing some easy shots.
Right when Smart switched Steph and Lou with Reggie and Vlad its been awful ever since. I wonder what Smart sees in Vlad. Hes been playing better the past few games but it seems like hes really only passable at SF. Even so I'd say Carney is just as good offensively (hes been hitting 3's lately) and twice the defender Vlad is.
thank god vlad can actually hit a shot these days *knock on wood* and i'm loving how they're implementing the p&r with david lee more often now...
dwright looking great so far...couple nice jumpers, and two great passes to a cutting ellis (although he blew the second layup)
Udoh's already blocked/altered about 6 shots, most from within 5 feet. Second time a Warrior is cutting to the hoop pretty open and isn't looking at the ball and the pass flies by them out of bounds.
nice finish to the first half...the offense is soooo much better with curry in. gotta get some sleep, it's way late for me out in cold ass london...i'll be watching the 2nd half when i wake up. go w's!
Anything from here on will be spoilers then! Udoh with a nice pull up 17 foot jumper from the triple threat.
Lee's jumper was falling once again. So nice to have that shot back. Had a big night with 21/16 plus two blocks and a couple of assists and shot 50% FGs.
There were good performances by so many in this game. Definitely a good one by Udoh. He played some solid defense especially to contain Brand. He is making the case to start over Lou. Also 31 assists on 36 field goals. That's the basketball we hoped for with all five on the court being able to handle the ball and then are getting touches and distributing. With the roadtrip coming up this was a must win for the warriors. Good to see them pull it out.
AWESOME GAME 31 assists on 37 made buckets, and that's really the story of the game right there...great ball movement, unselfish play...add in some consistent jump-shooting and we're damn near unstoppable. Our 4 normal starters all had great all-around games. Awesome to see Lee start nailing that mid-range J, which makes that pick and roll twice as deadly. And surprisingly enough, hat's off to Vlade the Space Cadet...the jumpers have been falling, and he had some key rebounds and deflections in the fourth quarter to help us hold on to that lead. Unfortunately, a 10 point lead with 10 minutes left feels extremely precarious with this team...considering how lackadaisical we get with an advantage...but they were relentless tonight, and had an answer for everything the Sixers put up. Solid game by Brand, completely neutralized by Lee's production. But damn, Holiday is a beast. The road trip should be tough, but then we have one of the nicest home stands I've seen in an NBA schedule in as long as I've been watching basketball. 18 of 22 at home, and the 4 away games are LA, LA, Phoenix and Utah. We don't leave our time zone for over a quarter of the season! That's ridiculous! After how discouraging their play was for that stretch a couple weeks ago, its soooo refreshing to see them win 3 in a row...let's hope they can take that momentum onto the road.
Yeah Jrue looks real good. Very under control and hes a much better shooter than I thought he was. Last two games the passing has been much better, no coincidence that Curry has been back for both games but we've got our whole team healthy minus Beans. Monta has been moving the ball much better too though, he might be turning a corner as far as understanding of when to pass and when to shoot but it appears as though he still gets shut down late in games and Curry continues to do well in the 4th Q (Fitz said he is our leading 4th quarter scorer at 7 points per 4th quarter). We should get a lot more bench production now as well since Vlad is doing better, Law is serviceable, Udoh and Amundson can play, Reggie is more on track, etc.
Last night was the best I've seen of Ellis in playing within a passing system and in general making some legit elite pg like assists. Curry is clutch. That's what made him famous back in college. It's easy to get excited, but it's one game. But they are back on track which is good to see. They just need to stay on it.
I would've liked to see Iggy out there, to see how the backcourt handled a guy that long and athletic, but I'm extremely happy with how they handled a team that they should've beaten.
The one thing that must improve is the defensive rebounding. I suppose it is easy to say it will improve when Biedrins and Gadzuric returns, but hopefully they can do it even if those two are not available.
This is one thing that always concerned me about Udoh in the games I saw him play in college. He doesn't clear the defensive glass. Gets tangled up and pinned down a lot when boxing out, very reminiscent of Diogu. Hes pretty decent on offensive rebounds because hes so rangy though. If he gave up on boxing out a la Murphy (and a lot of other NBA players) he could probably grab a few more but he'd also give up a lot more offensive rebounds. Lee seems to quietly rack up the boards but he can't clear em quite like Beans and other elite guys do when they're right. For all of the things I don't like Beans for I do have to give him credit for being a great rebounder and especially defensive rebounder. Especially all those years when he was alone down there swallowing up boards amongst two or three other players while the rest of the W's streaked down the floor.
The warriors must have a farm system... Why can't we call somebody up from the minors that is a power forward or center? God we need help. The torture is watching Amundson and Radmo play more like 20 minutes and start or finish games. Those two are the most exploitable matchups IMO.
