It's official, Steve Nash is a Sun. So now Kobe is probably gonna be a clipper.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dallas Mavericks free agent guard Steve Nash reached a verbal agreement on Thursday to sign with the Phoenix Suns.

As first reported by ESPN.com's Marc Stein Thursday afternoon, Nash agreed to a five-year package worth more than $65 million, with a partial guarantee for the sixth season.

According to sources, Nash brought the Suns' offer back to the Mavericks, but Mavs owner Mark Cuban declined to match it. Mavericks sources said Cuban was reluctant to give Nash more than a four-year guaranteed contract because of fears the 30-year-old couldn't physically handle playing more than 32 minutes per game.

"It's exciting, but it's also bittersweet," Nash told ESPN.com about the move back to Phoenix. "I'm really sad to leave my teammates, but I'm glad to be going somewhere where they really wanted me."</div>

One of the worst days in Dallas Mavericks history...

I guess I'm gonna have to hate Nash from now on. I'm also planning on cutting my Nash jersey into pierces and burning each piece. I am THAT mad...

Devin Harris is gonna suck. He won't be able to replace Steve Nash by any means! What kind of 5th overall pick has numbers in his last year of college that compare to an NBA role player?!

lol, I've lost a couple Jerseys myself, I had a T-mac and Francis. I also have an Iverson that will probably be no good by next season.

So your gonna hate Nash because he found a organization that wants to pay him? I would be torn because Nash is a fixture of the Mavs but the team is going in a new direction. If this all goes down, what will the team do? They'd have more money for Shaq, but need names to go with it. And what will they have left if the do acquire Shaq?

He went back to the Mavs after the Suns gave him that option. You should hate the Mavs management for letting him go instead of hating Nash for not being given the chance to stay.

Its all about the money. Sad but true. Where are the players who are willing to sacrifice their pay for a championship? They are long gone from this NBA...(i'm not including malone and payton because they were has beens)

Nash all along said i want to play with novizskie (sp). He had said this many many times. Well what happened when he was offered a crappy deal from cuban? He went where the dollars were...plain and simple.

I forgot about the Nash going to Phoenix talk. Well he's back with the team he started with.

Certainly surprised me when I heard this morning....guess Kobe can't go to Phoenix now and I just have a gut feeling he'd never go to the Clips. So, I guess that leaves the Lakers and Spurs, unless there's another surprise. Honestly, I don't think there are too many appealing options for Kobe.

NO! ship it to me..as long as its not a Reebok Replica...

And I'm not too surprised at this move, but I guess no kobe in PHX?(not sure about the cap situation). And from Newspaper reports(THe Toronto Star) it looks as if the LA Clips feel "confident" that they can sign Kobe.

this is retarded. the mavs were the one's who are doing everything they can to land shaq. they put more emphasis on obtaining a player that they might not even get. if they had turned their focus to nash, he might have re-signed. blame the organization, not the player

Blame Cuban. He resigned everyone under the sun for crazy money, but
wouldn't re-up Nash a year ago. Way to go Nash, I'll miss you.

But Devin Harris will not suck. In three years we will be better off.

poor poor decisions are being made by the mavericks.

Hope everything goes well in Pheonix for Nash.

I cant wait to see how the mavs turn out next year.

I reallyy hope they get some help for Nowitzki (spelling?) and they just dont let everyone go away in future years for nothing in return.

I mean what can the Mavericks possibly do with Shaq if they have no one ekls on their team to compliment him.

More like smart decisions. With Devin Harris and possibly Marquis Daniels on the roster, there is no way they should fork out 13 million a season for Nash. Quality point, but the Suns are overpaying BIGTIME.

Damn, I was hoping Nash would go to Toronto because he's Canadian, and clinging for their lives for a point guard.

This is a great move for the Suns though I think the contract is a bit too long for a 30 year old point guard.

The Suns have the athlethism to make for a good running team, and I think Steve Nash is the best person available (Kidd being the best of course) for running such a team. The Mavericks were a run-and-gun team and with Nash running the break, Amare, Marion and JJ will be able to get good looks at the basket.
