<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">With 2:45 left, and the Celtics huddled in the midst of a 13-3 Memphis run that would put the game away, someone decided to play the Kingmen's hit ``Louie Louie'' on the FleetCenter sound system.

The song was famous for its slurry, unintelligible and reportedly dirty lyrics, and last night it struck an especially fitting tune. The 96-89 result the Celtics had just punted away to Memphis, sans point guard Jason Williams, was just as unspeakable.

And in Paul Pierce [news]'s mind, not nearly enough support is on the way. Not considering the way that the Celtics captain, who fouled out last night with 3:58 left, once again pointed a frustrated finger at his team.

Exactly a week after calling his team soft, Pierce said that his teammates have come to rely on his offensive power far too much.

Little wonder that the floor caved in at both ends after Pierce left, and the Grizzlies started running for uncontested dunks.

Though coach Jim O'Brien later praised his team for its effort, a disgusted Pierce wasn't buying the attempt at postgame peace.

``Too many times we get stagnant on offense,'' he said. ``A lot of times guys depend on me to make a play. They shouldn't depend on me so much. I know I carry a heavy load, but there's more they can do.

``A lot of stuff has to come from each individual. Everyone knows what has to be done - rebounding, hustle plays - and we're not doing it. It's not that we're not playing hard. Everyone has to play tough mentally. We're too inconsistent right now.''
    </div>

Pierce is obviously getting frustrated with his teams play. The situation is not as bad as T-Mac's, but then again neither is their record. I never like it when a player calls out his team to the media, but maybe thats exactly what they needed.

He's 100% correct, the Celtics are playing weak basketball. They can't rebound and don't play tough defense. Pierce is playing well, but they have no other consistent scoring threats. The team is not playing focused for any continued periods of time. Without Walker there is no real second scoring threat.

These comments are ok. He's just stating facts and if his team are professional enough, they won't take it personally.

He should call a team meeting if he feels so strongly about his teams play. Calling out his team to the media will only flare up tempers.

I don't know, different teams respond differently I guess. Just my opinion.

Well I'm sure they already talked about this after the lost games. What do you think is happening after the game or after the first half in the locker rooms? [IMG]. They're discussing what went wrong in the game.

Sometimes you have to do this to fire the team up. Remember Shaq and Kobe's feud? Look what's happening now. [IMG]

Pierce's comments weren't that bad though, I'm referring to fueds like Shaq/Kobe. They are winning because of their talent, not fighting.[IMG]

Was Pierce right in saying those comments? Yes he was. Those are the comments that come from a true leader. He used those comments to help motivate his team and try to get them to step up their game. I do however think those comments were inappropriate in the way that he said them. I agree with Rudeezy, he should have called a team meeting to make those comments. Releasing those comments to media only brings more unnecessary attention to the situation.

It will be interesting to see how this team responds to Pauk's comments. The Celtics next game is tonight against the Raptors.

The Celtics desperately need a win, after flopping against Memphis, this is a big game. Pierce has played well lately, getting his 25-28 points and 3-7 assists and 5-8 rebounds, but when you 2nd, 3rd, and 4th highest scorers combine for 29 points, your team isn't going to be winning much.

Another pathetic loss last night, how you can blow a 29 point lead amazes me. What happened in the second half, if anyone watched the game let me know.
