I have read this on several boards (including this one) that the Magic and Celtics should swap stars. The Celtics are looking to trade Pierce and the Magic have enough talent at the point guard position to make this deal. Keep in mind that this is just something the fans are talking about and has no source that I can find.

Why the Magic do the trade:
Last year, the Magic had Jameer Nelson playing the point guard position and Steve Francis playing the shooting guard position. Since the Magic didn't draft a shooting guard, they are most likely going to start Francis at the two guard again. This deal would give them a real shooting guard and would let Jameer Nelson be the full time starter at the point guard position. Paul Pierce is a very consistent player and is a perennial All-Star so I think the Magic should pull the trigger on this the moment they get the chance.

Magic Lineup
PG- Jameer Nelson|Travis Diener
SG- Paul Pierce|Deshawn Stevenson
SF- Grant Hill|Hedo Turkoglu
PF- Fran Vazquez|Tony Battie
C- Dwight Howard|Kelvin Cato

Why the Celtics do the trade: The Celtics do this trade because they have been wanting to trade Pierce. This deal would get them another star for Pierce and would give them a great point guard to replace veteren Gary Payton who is becoming a free agent. This would give the Celts an All-Star calibur player running their offense. The Celtics would get a player who averages close to the same numbers as Pierce and this trade would also let Gerald Green have the starting shooting guard spot this year or the next. Pierce will just slow down the development of Green so this trade would help their future too.

Celtics Lineup
PG- Steve Francis|Delonte West
SG- Tony Allen|Gerald Green
SF- Ricky Davis|Ryan Gomes
PF- Al Jefferson*|Raef LaFrentz
C- Mark Blount|Kendrick Perkins

* Unless Antoine Walker is resigned

What do the rest of you guys think of this trade? Should we do it if we get the chance?

I suggested this on aim to someone the other day, but do not think it will happen. One thing wrong with your projected lineups is that Boston has already said Gary Payton is not in there future plans so he will not be returning next season there point guard of the future would probably be Delonte West. I do not think that with so many young talented guards they would be looking to trade for Steve Francis.

I would like this trade if it was a rumor we could start Jammer full time and not worry about a small backcourt.
