<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rumors of Allen Iverson being dealt to the Celtics have cooled recently, but Paul Pierce publically gave the thumbs-up to management on landing the All-Star. ?To me, Allen Iverson is one of the top five players in the game,? he said after a press conference to announce his three-year contract extension with the C?s. ?Whenever you can add a top five player on your team, I think you?re going to improve. I mean, I admire him as a player. He?s a former MVP. He?s been the scoring champ. ?I just think that when great players get with other great players, they make adjustments. And if we were to add that, I think we both would make the adjustments to make it work.? </div> Source
Pierce was kind enough to signed his multi-year extension to stay with the C's, now it's time to give back and give him what he wants! Everyone talks about whether or not the duo of Pierce and AI would co-exist, if Pierce is okay with it, then it's all good. Bring on AI

Pierce strikes me differently than other superstars. He could also flourish as the second option, and he doesn't have the ego many good players tend to carry along with them. That's why I do believe an Iverson and Pierce duo could work.
It would work look what he did with antoine, and it seemed like they were good friends, Antoine probably shouldnt have been the first option but pierce didnt care he just wanted what was good for the team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting vcwannabe15:</div><div class="quote_post">How is Boston gonna get AI without trading Pierce?</div> A combination of young players will pretty much convince Philly. You know, like offering Gomes,Green,West etc.
Well, boston doesn't really need iverson anymore, they have Telfair and he ay be a weak shooter, but he has those crazy assists. he has the potenial to get better at shooting and he most likely will. Imagine the duo, telfair to pierce.......
I am not so convinced that Telfair is the answer for the C's, many felt that he was retrieved by the Celtics in order to trade him to Philly for Iverson. Ainge has loved AI for a long time now and I think he will make a strong push to get him, and if that means giving up young guys-such as Telfair; I think he'll eventually do it. Especially now that Pierce has signed an extension and is committed to this team for the long haul, Ainge can't continue to depend on only developing the young guys, he needs to get an experienced vet such as Iverson.
I think that Telfair, Green, West, and other nice young talent are not worth trading for AI. Call me crazy....
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Franchise4Ever:</div><div class="quote_post">I think that Telfair, Green, West, and other nice young talent are not worth trading for AI. Call me crazy....</div> I would, but I will more than likely call Billy King crazy for letting this fire burn for so long, and not make a move. Despite what the uninformed have to say about this decision-making process, the trade would be a good one for the Sixers. Above all else, the Allen Iverson show has been a failure in Philadelphia. They tried putting vets around him and giving him some role players to make that big push and win a championship, and they came up short. They tried younger, more athletic players in an attempt to surround him with some playmaking ability and that didn't work. Then they tried pairing him with another superstar (one that turned out to be well past his prime), and that didn't work either. They even tried bringing out the beloved hometown coach and playing to AI's strengths one last time, and nothing. If I'm Billy King, I thank my lucky stars that this guy has been run out of town on a rail, rather than worry about "should I trade AI?" The answer to that little query is yes, you should trade Allen Iverson. I'm not saying he should trade him to the Celtics, but no one has more young talent to build a team around than us. At the same time, I would not necessarily recommend geting as much young talent as possible and chalking that up as sufficient. What the Sixers should be concentrating on is: where do we go from here? The one thing you can rest assured should be in their plans is parting ways with AI, and getting moving on freeing some cap space. Philly is turning into New York 2 with that budget. And while the rest of the league to enjoy competing for the services of a bumper crop of Free Agents next offseason, Philly fans get to be continually more sullen as they watch their odds get worse and worse, as their stars get older and older.
