<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Paul Pierce [news], who has possibly jabbered more this season than at any other point in his NBA career, sees nothing wrong with his on-court chatter. ``What's too cocky?'' he said after Celtics coach Doc Rivers blasted his team for its trash talk in last night's 107-82 loss to the Knicks. Pierce and Ricky Davis both collected technical fouls in the first quarter last night - Davis for comments from the bench - of a game that went downhill quickly. Pierce was paired in a double technical with the Knicks' Tim Thomas, and Davis in a double technical with Stephon Marbury. Overall, seven technicals were called in the first half, with Celtics coach Doc Rivers, Antoine Walker [news] and Jerome Williams also getting T'ed up. But nowhere was the verbiage hotter and grimier than in Pierce's and Davis' exchanges. ``He was just running his mouth,'' said Thomas, who took clear delight in Pierce's five-point night. ``It's not even MTV, and he got punked. ``They're a bunch of front-runners. They're going to get (into the playoffs), but I feel for them. Whoever they get just has to go at them and be aggressive.'' </div> Source
Tim Thomas has now had problems with Ray Allen, Kenyon Martin and Paul Pierce. 1 is a coincidence, 2 is trend, 3 is evidence. Maybe Tim should stop worrying about the Boston Celtics and start trying to justify being paid 12.9 mil (more than Dirk, for God's sake) when he's only averaging 12 points a game. All kidding aside, though, the Celtics have gotten a little too wrapped up in the trash talk the last couple weeks, almost like they're reading their own press clippings. I don't mind a little competitive banter, but I just hope they keep in mind that the scoreboard always gets the final word...
