<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Paul Pierce’s left elbow is swelling again, but he said it is not something that will cause him to miss games.

“It still leaks,” said Pierce, who picked up his 2,500th NBA assist in the third quarter last night. “It’s very painful, but I have a high pain tolerance.”

The captain doesn’t expect the elbow to heal until the summer, but he also doesn’t anticipate having another operation like the one he had last summer.

“It looks nasty,” said Rivers, “but it’s not something that affects his basketball.”</div>

Why is he playing through this? I like seeing the team do well with him, but it seems stupid to have your star play 40 minutes a night when the season is already lost.

Sounds like Rivers is coaching to keep his job.

Yeah, but do you think Doc is that stupid? Surely Ainge has his mind made up by now, and a few late season wins are not going to change his mind.

That's probably true, but you never know with Doc. The only other reason I can think of is Pierce just being stubborn/determined.
