Media shows no love Good to be back here on the Warriors forum, I had some login problems for a while. I was on Foxsports.com on their Dimesmack column and read the following: "The latest news out of Golden State further ensures their place as the NBA's worst team. Promising second-year swingman Mickael Pietrus had surgery on his dislocated left shoulder Wednesday and could miss the start of training camp. Pietrus sustained the injury during summer league action. Any questions about the Warriors as the league's worst team? They're the new-age Clippers!" Man, the W's can't get any love from the media, calling us the worst team in the NBA is a bit harsh. Thoughts?

Second of all, I don't understand how such a small move would ensure their place as the NBA's worst team. I also don't think a professional writer should be saying things like "They're the new-age Clippers!". Lastly, please provide us with a link so we can know this is a valid story and not just something you made up. I've searched for this article and I couldn't find anything.

After seeing how BS the trade talk about Damp to Philly was, I am going to consider foxsports on the same level as NY Post until they prove me wrong.
Thanks for providing the link. I still can't believe how harsh the media is being towards the Warriors off season moves. There is also a link on ESPN stating that no team has taken a bigger step backwards than the Warriors. I guess they will all have to be proved wrong when the season gets underway.
Sounds like Pietrus' surgery was successive. http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/pietrus_s...ful_072104.html Here's hoping he's back for training camp!
I've never studied journalism, but its always seemed to me that sports writers need a whipping boy. Someone they can mock and never give the benefit of the doubt to. The Warriors have been down for so long that they've become most writer's whipping boy by default. Another reason is that a lot of sports writers and commentators don't do nearly as much research as hardcore fans do. So they make assumptions based on what they remember about a team, the assumption for the Warriors is always going to be that they made the wrong move and will be horrible. I wouldn't take it too personally. Yeah it sucks to never get the benefit of the doubt, yeah it sucks even more when a writer or commentator doesn't bother to do research on your team, but its what the Warriors will have to deal with until they pull themselves out of the cellar. The good news is that once they do make a move, public opinion will quickly change and the Warriors will get the respect they deserve. It almost happened two years ago when they made the big surge towards the playoffs after the all star break. It can happen this year, given that the west has taken a big step towards parity. Sorry for the tangent...on to Pietrus... If it had to happen, I'm glad it happened now instead of during the last week of training camp. He's got over two months to rehab, so it shouldn't be a problem. It was only arthoscopic surgery, so the recovery period shouldn't be nearly as long as it would be if they had to go in there and repair his rotator cuff. My only concern is him developing tendonitis during his rehab and having that stay with him for the rest of the season.
How are the Warriors the worst team in the NBA all of a sudden? I'm tired of all these haters but until we actually do something, they will always be there. It really doesn't bother me much, just shows how little they have to write about.
Yeah I think this was discussed here also when that idiot, Hollinger, from Sports Illustrated was talking smack and making Warrior comparrisons to the Clippers as the laughing stock team of the NBA based on their moves this offseason. It seems that all these writers are all a bunch of hacks that don't do their homework and when they discuss a team they always position their article to draw pity or cheap laughs to entertain their audiences. Of course we're going to react because we've followed the team and we have a better idea what's true and not true than the writer who is too lazy or doesn't care enough to be fair and balanced. I mean look at all the haters that were dissing the Heat before they even started the season or those that seeded Orlando higher than the Jazz or the Warriors simply because they didn't have a player as high profile as Tracy McGrady. It's ridiculous. Basketball is a team sport and unfortunately its hard to write about team chemistry. So they yack about b.s. rather than analyzing the players and what they could bring to a team that is organized a certain way or built around a player or a core group of players. http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21861 BTW, I hope Pietrus is able to recover quickly.
