<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Sometimes, things have to go against a player before they start going for him. Mickael Pietrus wanted a trade from the Warriors for the better part of a year, but when one didn't materialize, a sense of purpose appeared.

"I feel like the last 25 games, I really need to step up - not in terms of players thinking about contracts, but in terms of the team going go to the playoffs," Pietrus said. "I want to go beyond the eighth spot. That's my main focus now."</div>

MP is funny. He's like a kid (or is a kid). It doesn't take much to sway his attitude. One minute he's complaining about his situation here and wants to be traded and then the next minute he's all about helping the team. I will say that he has been playing hard all year and the way Nellie benches his players can be frustrating on them (I like the way Nellie benches and sends messages to his players though), but if players like MP or POB would just STFU and appreciate their current situation, it would benefit everyone, including themselves.

I don't think he had an epiphany or anything. I think it's actually quite simple... hi agent told him to shut up and play for a contract. Nobody likes a disgruntled player on a team making a run for the playoffs. At the end of the season, he'll be off to play for another team

Yes, I know. I'm laughing at how obvious it is. Before the trade deadline, he was that disgruntled player. After the deadline, when he found out he's got no choice but to shut up and play, he did just that. Don Nelson actually said, "He's got to do well because he's playing for a contract" (not verbatim).
