http://www.nba.com/draft2003/profiles/PietrusFlorent.html If he doesn't apply for the draft we should invite him to training camp. He could be the defensive stopper at small forward. That'd be kind of nice to have the brothers play at the same time like they did back in France. Strengths: Despite his lack of height for the position, he plays mostly at power forward. He is an excellent defensive player who crashes the boards and will mix it up inside. Does this mean he is kinda slow compared to his brother? Anyway I like the way that sounds. Crash the boards and excellent defensive player. We could use more of that.
wow, he sure looks just like his brother... but before we all even talk about his brother, let's not forget about the man himself. I think Mickael has serious skills to be a star or even superstar in this L. I haven't see him play before, but this is what I heard from many sources. ^^
Pietrus is reall good, injuries have killed him all season but he can be a real star. He can shoot, he's got the atheleticism, and all he needs to do is work on his handles a little (still work on other things but mainly).
At 6-7, the Warriors will need him to develop into the high-flying small forward mold. Something like Scottie Pippen will be good, but his prime asset is his defending and the rebounding skills that come with playing the 4.
Mickael is the real deal- we gotta focus on developing him. But his brother might be a good pickup sometime.
That would be crazy though. Two defensive stoppers? that are brothers? THAT LOOK IDENTICAL?! Imagine if they got the fros liek Big Ben- talk about intimidation.
I wonder if he's a big dunker like Pietrus. That'd be sweet. You get a speedy guard like Jameer Nelson with an outlet pass off a steal from one of the Pietrus brothers, the brothers start running with Jameer, you get a 3 on 2 fast (or 3 on 1) break with a monster alley oop toward the basket and both Pietrus' jump on either side of the rim for the flush.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">That does sound sweet. He is only 1" taller than Mikael so I hope he can play SF.</div> Speedy who's only around 5'10" plays point guards 4 inches taller than him. How does he do it? He's got good reaction time, anticipation and most importantly he has good arm length. He can also move laterally very quickly and is able to play very close to his man without getting beat. Hopefully the other Pietrus is quick enough to stay in front of his man and use long arms to contest shots against taller forwards and be strong enough to defend against them in the post (which i'm sure he is since he plays some power forward).
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobeonfire:</div><div class="quote_post">Any word on whether he's entering the draft?</div> No clue, but if I had scouts over there I'd think about signing him if he's good and interested in just playing for the Warriors because of his brother. No sense in being in the draft when you have the chance to play with your former french league teammate and brother.
Is there a rule that any player has to enter the draft before being signed? Or can any player who's not in the NBA be signed at any time?
That is a good question. I think they do have to declare for the draft. Or else anyone could get an invite. Maybe I will declare myself for the draft. I would like to see Rudeezy play for the Warriors. Maybe he can get an invite when he graduates.

Maybe I will declare myself for the draft.</div> BTW you wouldn't have to declare for the draft, you could probably just flag down Gary St. Jean at the Arena and probably get him to sign you on the spot. I mean if Rusty Larue, J.R. Bremer and Dan Langhi can make a 10 day contract why not anybody else. Then if you suck, you just collect the pay that you've earned up until you get waived. Seriously though, I think you could just get an invite if a team's scouts are crazy about you and there's really no others teams interested. You then work out the deals of the contract with the NBA and the franchise. Ben Wallace and Brad Miller were all non-draftees. Chris Andersen came out of the NBDL league and signed an NBA contract. Ginobili didn't enter the draft, which is why you don't see his name on the 2002 draft. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">I would like to see Rudeezy play for the Warriors. Then befriend him enough to get some dirt on him. Then he can blackmail Cohan into selling the team. The team gets sold, Rudeezy gets to call the shots. Rudeezy gets a ticker tape parade in downtown Oakland by many grateful and proud warrior fans and gangs actually stop shooting at each other to honor the glorious occassion. Jerry Brown names a holiday after him. The warriors make positive strides and good draft choices and they finally make the playoffs!
Once you know where he is hiding, you can paint the target with one of those laser designators the ground forces in Iraq uses and call in an airstrike. I think one of them MOFO or MOAB or whatchamacallit bombs will do the trick. Something that will also leave a nice crater type landmark in the ground for Warriors fans to visit and throw pennies into for good luck.
