At 22-35 I think it is about time for everyone in the Sonics organization to openly admit to the fact that the playoffs are out of reach and start playing the rest of the season trying to develop players for next year. I am so sick and tired of us trying to run Ray Allen off of 30 screens and post up Sweet Lew 15 feet from the basket when no other player on the floor poses a threat to score. The Clippers triple teamed Rashard Lewis in the post and every screen that was set for Ray Allen the screener was completely open. Wilcox and Collison shot a combined 9-12 against the Clippers. I would like to think that when Brand or Kaman went to help against Ray or Rashard that someone would have gotten them the ball for an open jump shot or a finish. Instead we kept force feeding the ball to those two in hopes that they could somehow get a high percentage shot over 6 hands. Those two are good but they are not that good. Bob Hill will be fired after the season. That is a foregone conclusion. We aren't winning tight games b/c we do not have a legit post threat or penetrator on the roster. Why not try to post Wilcox and Collison more in the first 3 quarters of the game so when the 4th quarter comes they have the confidence to get the ball in single coverage and make a play? Why not run a high pick and roll for either Earl or Luke with Nick Collison so if the big helps too much than Nick will have an open look? Why not trust the players that you invested all of that money in the offseason to make a play down the stretch of a game that is winnable -- especially when they aren't being guarded at all? This team is horrible and b/c of how poorly we played this year we will most likely lose the longest standing franchise in Seattle. I know hindsight is 20-20 but if there is one thing that Rick Sund did poorly in his soon to be over regime in Seattle is promote Bob Hill as head coach after he fired Bob Weiss. I don't think that there is a coach in America that I dislike more than Hill.
Totally agree. This team is a mess, no leadership, no instincts, we have talent but it never shows when it's needed. I just pray that we use our lottery pick on a playmaker this offseason and we bring in a non-inept decision maker at head coach. P.S. I'll be going to the game tomorrow, first of the season ha, so i'll talk to Rick Sund for everyone.
