Keys to the Game

Detroit Pistons:

[*]Stop TJ Ford from running around (He's very quick and agile and can hurt the team if he is allowed to run around with the ball and dissect the defense)
[*]Guard Redd (He is a very good shooter and he needs to be guarded)
[*]Play Larry Brown's style of basketball/Spread the ball around (To keep the streak alive, the Pistons need to do what they have been doing)
[*]Make open shots (The Pistons have been shooting a better percantage recently because they have been making open shots. This needs to stay the same)
Milwaukee Bucks:

[*]Get Redd and TJ going early (The Bucks need their production on the offensive end and would like them to have good nights)
[*]Guard Hamilton (Hamilton has been on fire lately. The Bucks will need to keep him covered)
[*]Keep up with the Piston's bench (The Piston's bench has been playing very well the last few games and the Bucks will need to stop them)
[*]Rebound (If the Pistons dominate the boards, the Bucks have no chance. The Bucks need to try to grab every rebound possible.)
PyroManiac's Prediction
This should be a very good game. The Pistons are on a 11 game winning streak and the Bucks have a 10 game home winning streak. The Bucks will be able to get the crowd excited and will feed off of their energy. The Pistons will need to play hard to get a win, but I believe that they can do it! In a hard and close game the Pistons win.

Pistons by 4.

Great preview, good work Pyro, love your work. I agree completely with your key factors and descriptions of how Hamilton, Redd and Ford are great offensive forces. I think battling or dominating for the boards will be very difficult for a balanced team like the Bucks as they'll be going up against Ben Wallace. Good luck to both teams, hopefully DMase will put up great numbers. I like both teams, but I believe Pistons by 7.

I like Desmond Mason a lot. He's one of my favorite non-Pistons. I hope that he plays really well, but still loses.

Good preview, Pyro, but Hinrich looks a whole lot like TJ Ford. [IMG]

I am not sure the Pistons can win this one. Since they just played yesterday, they won't be so sharp, and the Bucks can take advantage of it. Didn't the Bucks win last time they played? I'd look for another big game from the bench. My predictions are always wrong...I'll guess...Pistons by 3.

Yeah, Desmond is one of my non-Piston favorites too.

You think you can do better with the previews? Want to give it a try? [IMG] So I forget to change the name, it happens.

By the last time they played, do you mean against the Pistons or just in general?
It doesn't matter though, because I have both of those! As far as I know, I'm the only previewer to feature the "Last Meeting" category. (If they played this season, there is no point going back to last season)

Yeah, I expect the bench to play well if we expect a win. It doesn't matter that we played yesterday, because our starters had some time off in that game. We should be fine, stop worrying BigMemo!

I'm expecting a loss tonight,Bucks give Pistons all kind of problems, they themselves have won 10 straight games but at home. The shooters of the Bucks and the overall speed ia a worry for Detroit

Bucks bench is very strong, last two games they got 56 then 48 points from their bench. No doubt that bench scoring could decide the winner.

allnet, how are you going to jump off the bandwagon? Don't be expecting a loss, at the very least hope that it is not a loss.

I'm slightly worried, but I have faith in the Pistons, you should too!

I just feel Bucks are riding high like this team is,they are at home,a day's rest, their style of play gives Detroit problems.I won't be surprised to see a win at all as overall this team is better. However winning streaks like this end to unexpected teams.Extending the streak going into the two blockbuster games against San Antonio would be un-real.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm biased though and as long as the streak lives I won't predict that the Pistons would lose. At best I would say, "In a very tough and close game, the Pistons win by 1 after 2OT."

I hate that streaks usually end to unexpected teams, nothing worse than playing Atlanta and thinking that you will kill them by 50 points and then you lose by 30. I guess it is better than losing a heart breaker to a very good team though.

However, I think the Pistons aren't the type of team to overlook any opponent. I expect them to come out and play well and look for the win.

nice preview.

i see this game as a test of mental toughness. they've played 7 games in 10 day, IIRC. winning streaks are awesome, but they've got to wear down on you mentally. hopefully the pistons don't psyche themselves out and get rattled.

as long as the pistons come out of the gates sharp and focused, they'll win.

micheal redd has been amazingly consistent all year. i say, we let him get his, and then contain the rest of the team.

i predict the pistons win by 5.

hey i was right, Pistons by 5 [IMG]

that was a nail biter at the end. the bucks hit some CLUTCH three's at the end (3 i think), to keep it close.

the Pistons showed amazing composure and patience. i think the epitomy of the game was in the 3rd quarter, when the Pistons had 2 offensive boards in a row. each time they kicked it out to Chauncey, he signalled to calm down and not rush the shot. they were rewarded with a bucket. great patience and leadership by Chauncey.

good game. let the streak continue!

Damn iamme, you are good. I was off by one on my prediction and you were right on.

I was right about the main matchup, Redd and Hamilton were going at it and it was great to watch.

Very good game and showed that the Pistons have mental toughness, not only by playing so many games over a 10 day period but by going into the Bucks' arena where they had a 10 game winning streak and beating them.

Billups and Hamilton both had great games that helped us win. They combined for 48 points. For the Bucks, Redd was their best player today (30 points), althought Tim Thomas has 22.

Corliss was great in the final few minutes when we went to him a few times. He also hit those two free throws at the end.

Was a great game and should build some more confidence for the Spurs game.

The winning streak is now at 12 games, and will be extended to 13+!

As always, Box Score and Recap are coming soon.

again, look at the balanced stats:

Chauncey: 26 pts 6 asts 4 reb
Hamilton: 22 pts 5 asts 4 reb
Wallace: 13 pts 11 reb 4 asts (4 stls)
Tayshaun: 6 pts 7 reb 4 asts

they all rebounded and shared the ball. bottom line: as long as the Pistons rebound and share the ball, they will keep on winning.

Quote:

The Detroit Pistons extended their winning streak to 12 games, getting 26 points from Chauncey Billups and 22 from Richard Hamilton in a 99-94 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.

With one more victory, the Pistons will match the franchise record of 13 straight set during the 1989-90 championship season. Their next game is at home Monday against San Antonio.

Ben Wallace had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Corliss Williamson had 13 points as Detroit snapped the Bucks' 10-game home winning streak.

Michael Redd 24 of his 30 points in the second half for the Bucks, who had won seven of eight. Tim Thomas added 22.

The Bucks hadn't lost at home since a 114-109 overtime setback on Dec. 6 to Washington. The Pistons hadn't won 11 straight since the 1990-91 season.

Recap Box Score

iamme, I like how you put that. As long as the Piston's keep rebounding and sharing the ball, they will keep winning. I have been saying something like that in my previews for a while now, but I think I'm going to use that exact line from now on. [IMG] Although, I did forget to leave off "dominate the boards" in the Piston's keys to the game.

Damn those are nice numbers. Don't forget 3 Big Ben blocks. Great, exciting game though. I was on the edge of my seat the whole 4th Quarter...I'm just counting the minutes now till Spurs vs. Pistons...and I'm goin to that game, damn I can't wait. If pistons take that then they will have so much damn confidence.

That was a good game. And I'll try not to worry so much, Pyro. [IMG] I was just messing with you, you make good previews.

By winning that game, the Pistons really proved how much they have improved by playing Larry Brown's game. It's sort of interesting, last time the Pistons won 12 in a row they won the NBA Championship.

Pistons do not need Larry Brown, he plays favorites, they were doing fine on their own before, it's just somewhat more coordinated. I wish the best of luck to your team, your game at Indiana will undoubtly show whether you live up to being one of the best in the East.

Larry Brown is a big reason why Pistons have suddenly turned the season around. His game plans have worked very well as of late.He is a hall of famer,a proven winner and might just be the best coach in the NBA.Ask any coach or player on where you would rank Brown for each coaching game plan, they will tell you he would right near the top.

Pistons are better this year thanks to Larry's better offensive system.Carisle as good was he was as coach in Detroit was purely defensive minded.Brown brings both offensive and defensive to his coaching style.
