After rookie Cheikh Samb made a solid showing against the Lakers on Friday, there's a chance the Pistons will wait -- maybe indefinitely -- to send him to the NBA-Development League.

"I think we've talked a little bit, and I think we'll hold off for now," Flip Saunders said. "There's no question we can throw him in the game. He has a presence. ... You're not afraid to put someone like that on the floor."

Saunders has always favored keeping Samb around. The 7-foot-1 center has been too impressive, too quickly for Saunders to want to give him up. -- Detroit Free Press

[*]Both Saunders and president Joe Dumars said on Sunday that Cheikh Samb might not be headed to the development league any time soon.

"We can send him to the D-League at any time," Dumars said. "There is no need to rush it." -- Detroit News
