heat vs spurs is much more exciting series that pistons vs spurs. but i'd like pistons vs spurs though.
I dunno, seeing an all defensive series may be some kind of boringness to me, but for the Spurs Manu has brought somewhat of a flashy spark and the Pistons can pull off some stunning things here and there. If these 2 were to face off, I`d say Spurs over Detroit in 7.
being from michigan, i would support the pistons if they played the spurs; but i really dont see them winning
Most definitely. I just can't see the Pistons or Heat for that matter defeating the Pistons. The easiest opponent for the Spurs IMO would be the Miami Heat while the Pistons will be a harder challenge. Nevertheless they will be 3x champions no matter whom they face. With the Spurs and Pistons it's like looking at a mirror. They both have defensive stoppers (Prince and Bowen) both have a tremendous backcourt and they have those two key players off they?re bench (Horry & Barry and Hunter & McDyese). Both teams play a very oriented team style of play, and not to mention both teams have arguably the two best coaches in game at the helm. But the biggest difference besides the fact that the Spurs have an explosive scorer like Ginobili, they have a superstar in Tim Duncan. That will play as the biggest beneficiary to the Spurs if they were to face the Pistons in the Finals.
Lets break it down. Guards - Ginobili-Parker vs Hamilton-Billups. I would take Hamilton and Billups. Forwards - Bowen-Duncan vs Teyshaun-R. Wallace. Tough matchup, both pistons can score and play defense but then again we're talking about Duncan. If Ben and Rasheed make it tough for Duncan, which they will, it will be a good series. Forwards go to the spurs though. Centers - Nesterovic vs B. Wallace. Wallace- Defensive player of the year. Bench - While San Antonio has a great bench, I think Detroits is better. We can rely on Elden Campbell to keep pressure on Duncan if our starters need help. Hunter played well against Wade, and by seeing that he can probably ahve the same effect on Ginobili or Parker. McDyess has ben pretty solid as well. Pistons in 7.
i think the spurs can beat the heat and the pistons.. i doesn"t really matter.. but i hope heat faces the spurs
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting arice89:</div><div class="quote_post">Lets break it down. Guards - Ginobili-Parker vs Hamilton-Billups. I would take Hamilton and Billups.</div> That's a hard one. I'd say it's a tie, both backcourts will get they're good nighs and bad nights. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Forwards - Bowen-Duncan vs Teyshaun-R. Wallace. But the fact that Muhammed is more physical gives the Spurs a better chance to at least do something to distract Wallace comapred to Rasho whom would give them nothing at all against Wallace. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bench - While San Antonio has a great bench, I think Detroits is better. Ginobili is a better shooter so that can bail him out, but for the most part I don't think Hunter will give Ginobili any problems what's so ever. But as for the bench in entirety, it's hard not to give the Spurs the edge. The Pistons might have a better bench on paper, but the way the Spurs bench has been performing in the Playoffs it's hard not to give them the edge. The Pistons bench on the other hand has been inconsistent at times and when it comes down to the wire you can always count on Big Shot Rob. Not to mention, Pop might give Glenn Robinson some playing time. Playing in a very intense defensive series, every point is going to be vital. And that's when Robinson can come in and fill in that void. Spurs in 6
The one thing the Pistons will and can afford to do is play Tim Duncan straight up. I don't remember missing many If any match-ups of Duncan Vs Sheed over the years but there is no one in this league who guards Tim better than Rasheed. Which will mean he will play him straight up. Pistons main goal will be to shut down Tony Parker and keeping out of the lane. Chauncey Billups is a very tough match-up for TP due to his size and overall strength. I don't think Manu will be stopped but If the Pistons can contend Parker then I see this series going to 7 games. Spurs still with all that would have two main advantages Tim Duncan is still the best player in the world, a superstar and a guy who can take over games and bench play. The Spurs have the deeper bench. Mainly with the way big shot Rob has played all post season. He has got his legs this time around due to good minutes by Pop in the regular season. Brent Barry although inconsistant can still give good minutes and there is still hope that Devin Brown may get some time, although doubtful due to his injury. Glenn Robinson will be back for the finals, after going back home to be with his family after the death of his mother. The coaching battle would be too close to call. Larry Brown and Pop the two best coaches in the league going at It each other. Best friends as well. Of course there's no point going into too much detail unless the Pistons win that game 7 in Miami. Obviously If they don't then we will be previewing the Heat's match-up with the Spurs. Which many Spurs fans would rather see.
I dont think it matters who comes from the East, the Spurs will win. If the Heat go then they have a banged up Wade and possibly not 100% Shaq and Pop is a much better coach than Van Gundy. MIA has no answer for Duncan and MIA has no bench. Detroit has slightly better defense but SA has 10x as much offense plus a deeper bench. SA has also had quite a bit of rest while both teams are coming off of a 7 game series.
LMAO arice89 is so biased. You want my opinion? I won't go biased like you. I honestly think that the Spurs will beat the Heat. That's sad but true. Their big 3 have been together longer than Miami's duo, they're more experienced combined than Shaq+Wade, they know how to play with each other better. The Heat is absolutely underdogs if they face the Spurs. Of course I would love for the Heat to win the series but the Spurs just look too good. Oh and I'll take Parker over Billups any time.
whichever team that the spurs face...their going down!!! Spurs are better than they were in 99' or 03'
Thanks for that incredibly biased opinion arise89.You said Nesterovic.I could have SWORE Nazr has been the starting center for the Spurs through the entire playoffs. The backcourt matchup is a wash.Spurs would take the Pistons in a series because theyre the more balanced team.
To all of you that say im biased and its no question San Antonio will win, I'll remind you of last year. EVERYONE said the pistons were gonna lose. And Billups is better than Parker.
the spurs is going to be hard to def they almost beat the lakers last year tim ducan going to play hard in the fanils
