What do you think Cowboy? Close game? Blow out? I'm nervous about playing in Big D. We always seem to falter down there.

    Your thoughts?

You do have bad luck there lately, but I think Pittsburgh has a very good chance to come away with a win.

I would guess that Staley could have the same kind of day as Barber just had....nothing much for most of the day and then one big play or two. This will be a good test for Roethlisberger. The Dallas secondary is suspect, but I imagine Zimmer will try to compensate by trying to confuse Ben with blitzes. The best bet is to disguise coverages, but with our rookies, Dallas doesn't have the flexibility needed.

I think if Pittsburgh gets the lead, Bettis will be seeing more time because Dallas has a weakness in the 4th when they are tired.

I haven't studied Pittsburgh much this year, but I would say it should be about a 24-17 type ball game. The only way it is a blowout is if Pitt gets their running game going so much that both Staley and Bettis are rolling good. Expect Ward to catch a lot of passes, along with one long pass interference penalty.

I know you picked Dallas, but what's your real take?

Parcell's is going to be pissed about losing that game to the Giants. He is as good or better at game prep as Cowher. I think it's going to be close, but I think Dallas needs the game more than we do and we let you guys grab a win at the end.

Did you watch the game??? Yeah, he threw for only 126 yards, but he didn't exactly throw the ball 50 times either. His completion rate was 63%!!! He threw only one pick, which was more of a desperation throw toward the end of the game. It had more to do with getting the running game going, which we did with 166 yards. It also had a lot do with the NY corners taking away more deep opportunities and playing a good game. I thought he didn't have quite as good of a game as he has had, but he still looked 30 to me.

SF, I just noticed that we are tied for the lead in penalty yards. Here's hoping that streak ends, or this could be one ugly game to watch.

I will grant you it is a thin line, but there really is a difference between poorly thrown balls and good defensive plays. That pass is one of the most popular in the NFL. It could be intercepted quite often if corner would jump on that play more often. The risk is getting burned if you are wrong. Allen was right.

Do you think Bill Parcells regrets not drafting Stephen Jackson. I still dont understand what they were smoking that day.

I was also surprised they didn't draft Jackson. You can't guess injuries, so that is a little unfair to evaluate now. We don't know what we have in Julius Jones yet, other than some nice moves in preseason. The facts were that few were sold on Jackson, or he would have gone before the Cowboys had their chance. In the end, you can think of it like this:

Dallas traded a low first round pick and Stephen Jackson for:
Buffalo's 2005 first round, a high second round, and Julius Jones.

Again, we don't know what Jackson or Jones will turn out like. However, even if Buffalo turned out to be a playoff team this year, we still came out ahead with an extra second rounder. At this point though, consider Buffalo is winless yet, it looks like we are in even better shape.

You are right, picks are nice. However, if Stephen Jackson ends up the next Randy Moss, people will be talking for the next 10 years about how the Cowboys passed him up. For a team that went to the pl;ayoffs last year, and was a good running back away from being a pretty good team. I think it was a mistake.

You can't play that game. There is no sane reason that Dallas should be singled out the next 10 years. You forget, Jackson wasn't supposed to be there at #22 for them. Detroit, Tampa Bay, Denver, and NE were all discussed as suitors. It was almost a lock according to the experts that Denver would take him if he was still there. Stephen Jackson slid because he was not a Randy Moss type player. He slid because there wasn't much difference between him, and a few other backs.

What if Julius Jones ends up being great? They look like geniuses. Especially if they can grab a CB like Antrel Rolle from Miami or a top DE or DT. And, oh by the way, we'll still have another first rounder to burn.

Also, understand we overachieved last year. This years team has been players than last year. Whether that translates into a better record, we'll see.
