I pitty Dame because he is feeling good for the first time in 5 years... finds out that he's a top two or three offensive weapon in the league and no longer a defensive liability and the team around him is even more poorly constructed than the teams he's had in the past.

That being said, if Cronin is committed to big swings in the off season like he has said he is, then next season can be the most fruitful of Dame's career and the seasons going forward even more promising. There are a lot of ifs and none of the ifs are if we are a contender right now because that is obviously not the case.

There is no pity party when all our wounds have been self inflicted. The only one I feel bad for is Dame because he's too naiive to realize he shouldn't trust this franchise.

I have no pity for anyone who's been paid half a billion dollars and given the keys to the city. It's just a game...beyond basketball, Dame is involved in special olympics, youth programs and several Portland area businesses. Pride not pity. I pity fans who can't get past the fact that he doesn't have a ring yet....Gary Payton has one and it hasn't made him king of the world yet as far as I've seen. I'm proud the guy is loyal to Portland and hope he has a chance to bring the trophy to Portlland but it doesn' t define who Dame is and how important he is to the game. Keep it real Dame.

Ya....I'm gonna say this is false. Dame is far from being naïve. Dude is one of the most grounded people in the NBA. He knows exactly what is going on.

Exactly.....please put me in a position to be pitied like that.

Look....this is about fans seeing only one thing in their mind....a title. Players have much more to consider....money, location, their body, marriage happiness, tax bases, limited career time, scheme, coaches, etc.

    This isnt about #ringz.

Its about not even fielding a team around him that can better than the 4th worst team in the conference

To me at this point it's not putting a coaching staff around him that can build a two way system that's plug and play....not roster, string defense and everyone has to buy in...Rogers is a failed defensive coordinator in my view so far. Yeah...we need to shuffle the roster this offseason but at least we should know who's not cutting it by then. I believe Dame and Joe are connected in the process and just wish we had a better end game coach....I don't want a coach who says after two seasons he's still learning to coach. There's a red flag right there. There's little seperating the records in the west so 4th worst could change with a two game winning streak...it's a weird season to judge by records out here. Dame shouldn't be our leading rebounder

It means he very much appreciates you and if he's ever near your place he would love to take you out to dinner.

    zero context…

Injuries? Trades?… i think anger is taking over your usually consistent rationale.

I think Cronin knows how badly he will look if Dame is never given a legit chance. Even if it will not be his fault he will look bad. Honestly I cannot see him getting another GM job anywhere if he "fails" here. Jody on the other hand, IMHO, is a deer in headlights. I think she is 100% ambivalent regarding wins/losses and going to the finals. She has no interest in the team other than it was thrown on her lap. All she dies is, once a month, put on a dopey Blazers jacket, sit next to Joe, and pretend she is emotionally invested in the team. I highly doubt she knows Shaedon from Reddish from Winslow.
