Lakers head coach Phil Jackson is not overly concerned with Kobe Bryant's right knee, but that can't be said about Andrew Bynum's right knee. The torn meniscus is really hindering Bynum and the Lakers are closely monitoring him. "I'm a little concerned about Andrew," Jackson told the Los Angeles Daily News. "He's been struggling with it and he's trying to adjust. With the spacing between these games, we thought that would be the best thing for Andrew. We'll be watching closely. We know if we're lucky enough to continue in the playoffs there will be bigger and more powerful centers ahead." Bynum played 18 minutes Wednesday and scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Not too worried. He is slower right now, but as you can tell yesterday, it didn't impact him much. Bynum said that it is all mental. Phil needs to be more worried about his mental state than his physical state. I'll take those 18 minutes from yesterday all series long if he has the right mental attitude.
PJax mentioned it's hard for Bynum to move around after halftime. Ironically him and Perkins both have knee issues right now.
I don't think the medical staff is treating it right. When Phil subs for him, Bynum should be on the sideline riding a stationary bike or something. Having him just sit on the bench and let his body cool down will only cause it to stiffen up. It isn't that hard of a fix, IMO.
