Guys if you could just list some players that got drafted or even just made you think that they would have turned out to be quality NBA players that just were flops or just disappeared. Here's a few: Marvin O'Connor - Nova/SJU Larry Ketner - UMASS Ed Cota - UNC William Avery - Duke Lawerence Moten - Cuse Miles Simon - Zona Ray Jackson - Michigan Randolph Childress - Wake Korleone Young - Detroit Pistons Rasheed Bey - St. Joes Tyus Edney - UCLA Dante Jones - MSU/Knicks Toby Bailey - UCLA
IF Ivan Chiriaev would have been drafted, I guarentee he would have been a flop. I still cannot believe the hype that was surrounding him.
J.R. Henderson - UCLA Jaron Rush - UCLA (undrafted) Harold Miner - USC God Shammgod - Providence Dejuan Wheat - Louisville Shaheen Holloway - Seton Hall (undrafted) Tyson Wheeler - Rhode Island (undrafted) Those are just players I liked, and the list goes on and on

If so I havent seen any of him in the NBA. And I thought he was going to be an exciting rook to watch. iactually thought he was gioing to throw down dunks like Wade was throwing down on guys. btw I never even heard of d wade before I saw him in the League
I thought Marcus Fizer would have been a pretty good player when he left Iowa State after his junior year.....but he's turned out to be nothing thus far.
There is 2 Dante Jones's one played for duke and is now with memphis grizzlies, and the other played for mississippi state in the final 4 and then played for the knicks for a little bit then disappeared

Quoting KB8_Remix:

Darko Millicic, I mean, most 2nd overall drafted player should be somewhaat good.
Well techinally he's not good enough to be considered as a player who has 'disappeared.' What has he proven to make himself disappear? He's young, raw, and developing - which is why the Pistons drafted him. He's a player for the future, and the Pistons don't need him right now, which is why he hasn't received the minutes to break out. Saying he's disappeared is a stretch, when did he even 'appear?'
I agree with Ice on Milicic. He hasn't got to play at all so he hasn't been able to prove himself. He is still young and developing, plus, they really don't need him right now. They have Rasheed and Corliss for the power forward spot currently. But, he will be a good player. He does have a lot of potential. And, remember, this kid is only 18 years old. I don't know if he's even ready to play in the NBA yet.

Quoting IKeepsItTreel:

Is this the Dante jones that dunked on a man fell to the ground and started doing pushups in the camera.
He said MSU, so I think he talking about the Dontae Jones that came out of Mississipi State and played for the Celtics one year in the late 90' either 97 or 98. Here are some cats I wonder what happen too.. Charles Jones- led the nation in scoring at Long Island University. And played for the Bulls in 99 Chris Carr- He use to score points in bunches off the bench for the Wolves & Nets. I think he played for the Bulls too. Khalid Reeves- people was expecting big things out of him being a point guard out of New York. And then going to play under Lute Olsen in 'Zona. Terry Dehere- He had a couple good years with the Clippers but was pretty un heard of after that. I think he touched down in the NBDL a few years ago. Damarco Johnson- He went to UNC- Charlotte. He played a limited minutes on the Knicks in 99. He went their when they had a bunch of big bodies Patrick Ewing, Marcus Camby, Kurt Thomas & John Wallace so he could never get off the bench. But they could use him now
A couple other players I just remembered about, A.J. Guyton out of Indiana and Khalid El-Amin out of UConn. I believe both were drafted by the Bulls, might be wrong though. But, if I'm correct, wasn't Guyton Big Ten Player of the Year when he left? I figured he'd have been pretty good. Than El-Amin was a pretty good point guard in college, helped lead UConn to the 1999 NCAA Championship alongside Rip Hamilton. I haven't heard about either of them in a while now.

It's Dantay Jones, not Mississippi State's Dantae Jones. As for players who I thought would be good but faded away, here is my short list. I could go on for days though. 1)Mateen Cleaves - He was the best player in college during his senior year. It was no secret that he couldn't shoot the ball very well, but that wasn't ever expected of him. I expected him to have a TJ Ford-like rookie season and a Jason Kidd-like career. Unfortunately, after his rookie season he was traded to a Kings team that had Bobby Jackson, Mike Bibby, Brent Price, and one or two other point guards. That was the end of the road for Mateen. 2)DaSagana Diop - I knew he had a bit of a weight problem and lacked some important fundamentals, but I was still expecting him to be an impact player right off the bat. Afterall, Centers are highly coveted in this league. For a guy Diop's size that was as highly touted as he was, I was expecting more. He never even began to live up to his hype. 3)AJ Guyton - Like Moo2k4 just mentioned, AJ Guyton was expected by a lot of people to be a lot better than he was. He had a short stint with both the Bulls and the Lakers I believe, but his early career was ultimately a failure. He was awesome at Indiana. I remember when the Michigan State team that had Cleaves and Petterson played Guyton's Indiana team. It was one of the closest and most intense games I've ever seen. It came down to a last second three point shot, and Guyton made it. He was truely a talented, clutch point guard. 4)Kirk Haston - Was I the only one who expected him to be great? He was drafted pretty high in the first round, and his career at Indiana was great. I thought he would make a definite impact. However, he didn't even make the Hornet's roster this year. Does anyone know what happened to him? How did he fall off? 5)Darnell Archey - This kid was amazing at Butler. He didn't get much of a look at the pro's because he was short and played at a mid-major school, but I had the opportunity to see him on many occasions in the NCAA tournament. Each time I was more impressed than the last. Archey was automatic. He was probably the best shooter in college basketball for his last few years. He won the Men's 3-point contest and set the NCAA record for consecutive freethrows. I was sure someone would take him. Who passes up a guy that shoots 99% from the line and outshoots everyone else in the NCAA from three? Dishonorable Mention William Avery - Duke, Lenny Cooke - HS, Rodney White- Charlotte, Eddie Griffin - Seton Hall, DeAngello Collins - HS, Marcus Taylor - Michigan State, Luke Recker - Iowa, LaVell Blanchard - Michigan, Joe Crispin - Penn State, Ed Cota - North Carolina, Trajan Langdon - Duke, Roshown McLeod - Duke, Omar Cook - St. John's, James Lang - HS
Great topic. There has been a lot of NCAA players who had success in college and had disappointing or non-existent NBA careers. Here's some of the names off the top of my head. Anderson Hunt -- UNLV (first and foremost) Lou Roe -- UMass Charles O-Bannon -- UCLA Harold Minor -- USC Jeff Trepaigner -- USC Scottie Thurman -- Arkansas Tyson Wheeler -- Rhode Island Lionel Simmons -- La Salle Jelani Gardner -- Cal Tremaine Fowlkes -- Cal / Fresno State Randolph Childress -- Wake Forest Randy White -- Louisiana Tech Felipe Lopez -- St. John's Chris Porter -- Auburn
Many of these players have been once highly-touted but fell off in their NBA careers. Michael Bradley-Villanova:He was a good low-post player while at Nova, and was drafted at 16th by the Raptors. Didn't have much of a good rookie season, but he showed glimpses of good rebounding and scoring last season, even putting up a few double-doubles. Got injured this season and was cut by Toronto halfway during the season, and got signed to Atlanta. His future does not look bright. Miles Simon:Once teamed with Mike Bibby to win the Tourney in 97, and he was named MVP over Bibby, but injuries prevented his pro career from going anywhere. Steve Logan:Was a great point guard at Cincinnati, but his height prevented him from being selected in the first round. I thought he would tear it up and prove all doubters wrong when Golden State selected him, but that never happened. Did he even play a game for the Warriors?
