Now we find out, the day after the house passes the bill for the bridge that a few businesses may be put out of business and the new additional costs will probable well exceed $100 million. Needless to say the speaker of the house knew and got her chamber to pass it before this article appeared. Now, that said, it may not have made much of a difference as 50-100% costs overruns in a state like ours should be expected.

"On Tuesday, the project staff also released documents requested by Willamette Week showing that McCaig -- who is both an adviser to Gov. John Kitzhaber on the project and a sub-contractor for the crossing's main contractor -- was paid $417,664 from 2009 through 2012 to help push the massive project forward."

But it's nice to know it's politics as usual in Oregon.
