Now in my lifetime, the Mavericks started making the playoffs in 2001. They made the playoffs the 4 years of my life, but who am I kidding if I said I remember those games. What are some of the best performances by players in a Mavs uniform. One of the best memories I've had on the Mavs is the 2002-03 playoffs. The Mavericks played 2 game 7's in 3 series. This is the year that Dirk got injured against the Spurs in the Conference Finals and the Spurs won in 6. This is probably my favourite performance in the playoffs by a Maverick. Nick Van Exel in game 3 against the Kings. It was a double overtime game where the Mavs won 141-137. Van Exel-40pts, 14/26FG, 7reb, 7ast That is an incredible stat line for a guy coming off the bench. He was 6-12 from behind the 3point line as well. What's also impressive about it is that this team was full of scorers like Dirk, Finely, LaFrentz, Nash, Walt Williams, etc. This was back when it was still Finely as the main leader and Nash and Dirk were the wingmen. I loved having Van Exel coming off the bench when he was here. Nellie would go really small and have a lineup of Nash and Van Exel in the backcourt and Finley and Dirk at the 3 and 4 and Najera playing a undersized center. Also in this game Dirk had a 25point and 20rebound performance while Nash had 11 assists and 31 points. All very impressive, but Van Exel stole the show.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Van Exel rallied the Mavericks with fearless shooting in thefourth quarter, forced overtime with a running jumper with 3.8seconds left and struck again in the second OT with the go-ahead3-pointer and the clinching free throws."He is more of a leader, more boisterous this year," Maverickscoach Don Nelson said. "He is more comfortable around theguys."The veteran guard with the lefthanded launch and perpetual sneermade 14-of-26 shots, including 6-of-12 from the arc. He led arelentless attack that caught and finally wore down the Kings."It was unbelievable," Van Exel said. "It was back and fourth -they would go up, we would go up and they would come back againand go up. I guess it was just the team that would make theshots consecutively that would win. But it was a great game."</div>Here is the box score and the article on it the next morning. Please post some of your favourite memories. :happy0144:

Calvin Booth's game winner against the Utah Jazz. It came the following playoffs when I became a fan of the Mavericks. I still love that team, Gary Trent, Vernon Maxwell, Juwan Howard, Big Three, Wang Zhi Zhi. They'd go on to lose to the Spurs next round in a dogfight. Another key moment I remember in that Spurs series, is watching Dirk getting elbowed and having his teeth knocked out. He ended up sprinting over the announce table, running to the back holding his mouth. Crazy moment, he ended up returning and playing to the end. Definately showed the fortitude of the Diggler. Also, from the Kings series. One of the first memories I have is Game 2's blowout. We set so many records, I believe the first half we had 81 pts. In addition, I remember Game 7's comeback in the 4th where we ran away with it in the final minutes. Nick Van Exel's rainbow 3 from deep was a clincher.
