i think that the NBA should change the playoff seeding rule. they should not go by teams that are the best in each division. They should just go by overall best record. For example, pistons and pacers can never be better than some jv team from the atlantic. the atlantic division are the weakest and they could go to the playoff with a .500 record. If i were to change the rules, i would just pick the top 16 overall best record teams in the NBA and those are the teams that goes to the playoff. thoughts?
^^i get what your saying but, isnt it just stupid that the east teams get to make the playoff while having .500 records and the west having teams that had way better records and they have to sit home and watch. i think that is just unfair to the teams in the west.
no thats why theres 2 conferences and they each have aplayoff so two east or western conference teams play each otehr.
So what you?re suggesting is that the western conference teams and eastern conference teams are mixed together during the seeding? That is an idea that will never happen. For one David Stern is a good business man say one year if that rule was applied a majority of the teams were from the east or west. The fans on the other coast would care less about the playoffs meaning rating go down, and the NBA becomes the NHL in terms of only being popular in certain areas.
than the NBA should just forget about the east and west side. just focus on the whole NBA and pick out the top 16 teams to go at each another. that way the BEST teams get to go to the playoff and not some team that are barly .500.

I don't know i sort of like it the way it is because even though the best teams might not make it. Having 3 divisions in each conference makes things more interesting for me.
dont u see what hungi is trying to do, he's trying to get the NBA to make a way to let the Lakers in the playoffs with their sucky *** record. Ain't gonna happen.
^^ Nice playmaker lol. Anywhoo, although I don't agree with the division leaders being the top 3 (although it's in every sport so deal with it), if they play a team with a better rec. in the playoffs they don't get homecourt. Settled.

Although hungi may be more for this idea because he is a Lakers fan, other teams in the west such as possibly the T'Wolves, Warriors, Kings, and the Sonics may not make it in while teams like the 76ers, Knicks, Celtics, or Washington could make it in with an inferior record and an inferior team. This wouldn't be an issue if the west wasn't so stacked but right now it is unfair to some teams that not only have a better record but their better record was built against tougher teams.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheTruth5:</div><div class="quote_post">Yes it is unfair to some teams out West...but theres really nothing we could do about it...</div> I now but some of the other posters dont understand why he is suggesting this change. It will never happen though, Stern is all about the money and the way it is now makes it the most even.
