Standing where we are now, *and* knowing what you expected of the season going in, *and* knowing how those expectations were exceeded... what's your criteria for success now?
I voted not making it to the conference finals, but really, I feel like I'm of two minds on the subject. On one hand, I'm so happy day-to-day with the team that I feel like it's all been a success already. But then, I project the success out and begin to expect more than I did in September. I don't want to set myself up for disappointment, but I can feel things shifting even this early in the season.
I didn't vote because I didn't see the option that included all 5 Blazer starters being in the All-Star game. Oh, and the COACH!
I would be really really upset if we didn't make it to the finals. There is something in the air with this team. They honestly can beat anybody. But the brass tax is we never made it past the first round and that should be our first goal. Then second, make it past the second round. Then the title. Hopefully we do all steps this year!
Me too. Before the season I would have been thrilled to make it to the second round, but right now I'd be disappointed if we didn't make it to the WCF.
drink some more Kool Aid, Brother..I think we should set our sights beyond first round thinking..as long as we dont have to face Phoenix as a seven or eight seed, lol, I think we can make some noise this year.
I have never been a fan of moving targets. I felt from the offseason that a playoff series victory would mark a successful season. The fact that we've had such a fantastic start doesn't change that hope for me. Anything more than that will simply be gravy.
This is the honest truth. A play off series win would make all the difference in the world. That's the glass ceiling for this team that I can't wait for them to shatter with a wrecking ball.
I wrote a lengthy post on this subject. Then, like a dolt, I clicked out of the window and lost it all. I don't have the strength to redo it. I will say I agree. Moving the goal post isn't fair. However, if we can agree the Blazers have already exceeded any reasonable measure of success it may be ok to pat them on the back, declare victory, and set a new target. Like winning the conference finals.
