Is it beneficial for the Nets to make the playoffs? While I don't want to watch the team lose, making the playoffs will likely spell a 4 and out in first round. Even if we were to get the 6th seed and oust Orlando in the first round, the chances of this team getting any farther are slim to none. If we make the playoffs, the team will not get a lottery selection. If we enter the lottery, you never know. Maybe we can get a top 10 pick and a difference maker. We could even package the lottery pick with the Dallas pick (as long as they make the playoffs) to move up, or in a trade to get a very good player. The team as it’s currently assembled needs many upgrades. Harris is a great start, and Marcus is a great back up. Sean Williams IMO will become a very good player next year with a summer of training. Kristic needs to recover from his injury or one can argue this position needs an upgrade via the draft or trade. Diop impresses me with every game, and I hope we can resign him to a fair contract during the offseason. RJ, a player I really love, because of his willingness to drive, is a big question. I'm not sure we need both him and Vince Carter on the same team. The experiment with Kidd proved the trio did not work, and I don't think the trio of Harris, Carter, and Jefferson will prove much different. I really believe we need to trade one of our two "slashers" (though Vince should drive more) in order to improve the team. We have some salary cap to work with, and I'm hoping some smart decisions will be made this offseason. It will be a critical one that dictates the future of this team. Thoughts or Comments?
great post. im not smart enough so lets see what my fellow nets fans have to say... before that, id like to say that we should make the playoffs and get some experience with the team right now, mostly because idk how the draft works lol
