Aldridge era Blazers in the playoffs: 12-22 .333 Post-Aldridge era: 5-4 .556 This isn't just about Portland's current playoff luck with injuries. We had Aldridge for 9 seasons--that's a lot of playoff futility for a "franchise" player, for the guy who wanted to be the Best Blazer Ever (until he didn't). The post-Aldridge era (or as I call it, the Lillard era) is a small sample size, but does anybody really expect Lillard's teams to experience that level of futility over the coming decade?
Nope. This is the first time that we've won at least one of the first three games in the second round since 2000. Lillard rules.
We've already done more with Lillard than we did with that other Blazer. So, easiest answer ever. No.
Two different positions. However, their mentality is completely different. Lillard could replace Chuck Norris in all those internet memes. In the Revenant he would have broke that bear's arm and stabbed it with it. Aldridge had to grow up babied, I could be wrong and his life may have been hell but I doubt it.
No. I don't expect to experience that futility. But, two completely different positions. It is way harder to be a dominant 'go to' big guy in this league than it is to be a dominant guard. Why? Usage, not having to rely people to get you the ball on time, in your spots, etc. So I don't believe it is an apt comparison, but it harkens back to me saying LMA isn't a go to player, no big guy is really. Can't create/get your own shot...you're screwed.
Its definetly harder for a big to create there own shot then a gaurd but LMA has a higher USG in the playoffs then Lillard. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lillada01.html#playoffs_advanced::none http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/aldrila01.html#playoffs_advanced::none
There is no Aldridge Era playoff record. There is a Brandon Roy era record (6-12) and there is a Damian Lillard era (11-14). LaMarcus alone never made the playoffs.
Exactly. And Lillard's era, in one year, has produced better results than Roy's entire career, despite having a worse roster. I think we can close the door on who is the better player.
Kevin Love has never lost a playoff game. 4-0 vs the Celtics last year 4-0 vs the Pistons this year 4-0 vs the Hawks this year (No Nate, I didn't just copy this from reddit, I swear I don't know what you're talking about.)
I'm going to play devil's advocate here. We have no idea what kind of player Roy could have been with Stotts as his coach - or how effective Dame would have been playing for Nate. As you said, Nate had a better roster to work with, and still found a way to run a baboon-ass-ugly offense. I can honestly see Nate wrecking Dame's career. OTOH, Roy might have thrived under Stotts.
That's disgusting. Bring the right hand over and grab your left wrist. How are you going to get any leverage like that?
Aldridge most definitely did not grow up pampered. Look it up. Hey, I love Dame as much as the next Blazers fanatic, but really, can't we praise Dame without dissing Aldridge? They are different players who had, mostly, different teammates, different coaches, played different teams. While we may remember Lillard's 0.9 second 3, it was Aldridge who blew Houston out of their own building in Games 1 and 2 of that series. I don't think I need to forget that in order to love Damian. There are a lot of axe murderers and baby rapers and psychopaths in the world if you really feel the need to hate someone. Personally I'd LOVE to play the Spurs in the WCF.
