We're 20 up against a tanking T-Wolves, surely it's time to give Pau and Shane a much needed rest heading into the playoffs. Get Hakim, Lawrence Roberts and Antonio Burks on court to give them such much needed gametime. The positives of such a move are endless, and i can't see any negatives.
Argh, Pau has just come back into the game in the last quarter, despite us being 17 up with free throws to come. EDIT: Pau comes out after playing 34 minutes, Hakim comes in for his first minutes. We are 26 up and have been since before halftime.
I don't really see the logic in playing them either. The game was obviously over, Battier and Gasol need their rest for the playoffs, and the rookies need to get some real NBA experience. It seems like every team in the NBA is playing their rookies and 'projects' except for the Grizz. We did it again tonight, playing Gasol 39 minutes and playing Battier 32 yet only playing Warrick three minutes. Granted this was a close game in many respects, those numbers should have still been inverted. I can understand wanting to keep our players fresh and in shape for the playoffs, but when the game's over, you should rest them. You risk injury and fatigue by keeping them out on the court. Fratello's a great coach but not a great decision maker. The way he divides the playing time is horrible, as are the matchups that he puts out on the floor. Then there was that whole Jason Williams thing in the playoffs last season. Maybe we'd be better off without him.
Resting players is fools' gold. Mike Fratello is the Grizzlies' all-time leading coach in both wins and win percentage; while I'd admit that I disagree with some of his decisions, I'd also admit that we've never had a better coach, and that there's nobody "out there" who would adequately replace him.

I'm a big fan of Czar, but you'd have to be a sycophant to suggest that because he's a good coach we shouldn't criticise him. I think it's in our best interests for Pau and Shane to play limited minutes. I don't care if Red Auerbach is the coach, that opinion won't change.
Oh, well given your comment about him was preceded by the comment 'resting players is fools' gold' i assumed they were linked.
